Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) have been quite popular of late sending much of the current cryptosphere into what some would call a craze. According to Coinmarketcap the total market cap of NFTs is $US22,986,238 million dollars and the 24 hour sales volume at time of writing is $US128,369 source. So as you can see the sector is no chump change and there is some serious money to be made from the sales of NFTs.

Blockchain The Industry Brought to Life by a Pandemic

Untitled design 41.jpg

Blockchain technology has been around for quite sometime now but it didn't really take hold until 2022 when Coronavirus broke out across the globe and people were forced to isolate, seek new opportunities and keep busy while we waited the pandemic out, which is still very much alive today.

In fact a recent journal published in Applied Sciences which is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal site operated by Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute. Published findings on how Coronavirus has brought in blockchain technology to combat Coronavirus. If you have time I would highly recommend the read HERE.

It isn't the first time a pandemic has changed the course of history and human behaviour with the Spanish Flu completely revolutionising connection with much like the internet today the phone was the big ticket item. Hollywood itself was born from the Spanish Flu and as workforce numbers dropped men were replaced with machines source.

Tonight's guest I stumbled across on twitter and can be found Here. I was drawn to her unique are as the former tattooist turned digital artists produces Dick Pics which are for sale on Terra (Luna) Network's Talis and Knowhere which her art is called BagODicksNFT.

I decided to reach out and see if Lewd was up for an interview and I was delighted that she responded as I wanted to know a lot more and how the booming NFT craze has changed her life.

Tell us a bit about yourself and what your art represents

Well to start, a bit about myself. I'm a 26 year old ex Tattoo Artist/Historian and exotic dancer, who recently left fiat to try to sell my art via NFT's. My art has always held a special interest with political endeavors, personal opinions on human conditions and psychology, and a theme bringing light to the violence of women in the sex industry, though the NFT I'm most known for in this space was more of a novelty.

I think that's one thing that has drawn me to your art. We have similar issues here in Australia with violence towards women and the sex industry is a sector that violence towards women is quite prevalent. We're currently in the process of updating the 1992 Sex Act which has been a barrier for women in reporting crimes for fear of incarceration due to modern day sex work being illegal. Thank you for drawing some further attention to the cause it takes a lot of courage.
What inspired you to create BagOdicksNFT?

I've always had a fascination with drawing dicks. Whether it was in the dust on someone's car, or on a desk in class. I even been reprimanded a few times by teachers and bosses for it. I guess you could say I had a talent for it. When I was introduced to the world of NFT's I thought it might be fun to take something I find hilarious and see if anyone thinks it's funny too. It doesn't help that my fiancΓ© highly encouraged that thought. So I sat there at work and started BANGING out dick designs.

I have to admit the pictures are quite the advancement from the cock and balls most of us drew on desks at school or carved into trees. You have even had a few space dicks, not that's innovation!
What was the community reception at the start and was it HARD to crack into the market?

The communities response to BagODicks has been quite polar. Some people think it's a hilarious and light hearted NFT, and some people absolutely hate that we exist. But to be fair, dicks aren't everyone's cup of tea, so I understand. The market was easy to slide in to, but then again I have been known to be a smooth talker.
Being humble, light hearted, and charitable get you far in the world of NFT's. If it weren't for the awesome community of Dick holders I doubt I'd be where I am today.

Well, not everyone has a dick but with your art they can! I did notice that your NFT sales have raised over $US3000 for charity which is quite impressive work, well done.
What have been some of your artistic highlights i.e. do you have a favourite art piece or moment in creating NFTs?

My biggest highlight was going to my boss and showing him how much money I made from the dick drawings he told me I couldn't do at work, and having him tell me that's a years worth of work that I had made in two weeks. It was a magical feeling, that just overall confirmed I was on the right path.

That would be an amazing feeling I hope you didn't leave any Dick Pics behind your boss might be listing them as your origins story
Where do you draw your inspiration from?

My inspiration for my art in general is taken from my every day experiences. As a woman I get unsolicited dick pictures constantly, but get shamed or looked at sideways when I draw my own dick pictures. It's nice to be celebrated for it for once.

That would be quite a challenging thing to deal with on a regular basis and I think that's one side of society that needs to change. It is illegal to flash a woman in public but doing it through social media or a carriage device seems to warrant an exemption from the law. The stories of unsolicited dick pictures are far too common today.
How has becoming an NFT artist changed your life?

Being a NFT artist changed my life drastically. I went from being a broke tattoo artist, to being able to quit my job, and become a soon to be stay at home mom almost over night. It gave me the financial stability to be able to confidently and competently raise a family off of my art. As an artist that's all I've ever wanted to do, is to be free to create what I want and be able to sustain what I need.

Congratulations on you and your partners pregnancy and such a wonderful story. I think every parent dreams of being able to make money and stay at home to raise their kids. That's a fantastic outcome
Have you always been an artist?

I have been an artist since I learned to hold a crayon. Both of my parents are artists as well, so I was doomed to art.

How do you navigate the NFT industry and get your work known?

Be witty, be kind, be eager. Engage with the community constantly. I am the sole person of the BagODicks marketing team. Any and all interactions with that account are with me personally, and I absolutely love it. It will get overwhelming at times, but if you're a good human typically the NFT community will accept you pretty decently.

I have to admit it is a great social media eye catcher and you can see your people skills shine through.

TerraFormLabs founder Do Kwon has mentioned your work, how did that feel getting noticed and what impacts has it had?

Getting mentioned by Do Kwon, especially multiple times, feels like walking through the gates of heaven. A feeling of WAGMI (We're all going to make it) washes over you, and all is right with the world. Okay that's possibly a little dramatic, but it paints the feeling pretty well. As far as impacts go, now some of your most influential devs and builders are holders of BagODicks, and apparently people get really excited to meet you in person and ask you if Do owns any Dicks. He doesn't as far as I know, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did.

That's a really big achievement having a founder, especially someone like Do actually engage. I'm sure Do would at least have a dick.
Where do you see your art in the future?

I'll always love and draw the dicks, but I've been working on releasing other artworks, such as some of my tattoo flash, and risquΓ© paintings and drawings, as NFT's. I'd love to get my other art selling, and appreciated by other people, instead of sitting in my art room at home.

That would be really good to see and please keep us posted I'd love to do a follow up article on how things have gone and progress made. Thank you again for taking the time to meet with us. I've really enjoyed this interview it has been one of my favourites to date.

Thank you for the opportunity, it has been fun!
