A lavender lamb
My family were here to celebrate Easter. We are not a religious family, but holidays are always a great excuse to get together for a wonderful meal and get caught up with what everyone is doing.
As she has in previous years, my daughter baked a lamb cake for us to enjoy for dessert.
It is baked in a mold and decorated to celebrate spring.
My son's wife made an Italian Lemon Cream cake that was delicious. It was the perfect ending to a meal that included ham, chicken and mushrooms, 2 kinds of potatoes, a chopped fresh vegetable salad, spinach cooked with garlic and croissants.
Oh, and because it was Easter there was an abundance of hard cooked decorated eggs and we turned a few of them into deviled eggs to go with the meal.
Because the photographers were busy preparing and serving the meal, I realized that there are very few food photos.
Everyone brought me flowers and I have taken plenty of flower pictures that I will show you tomorrow!

It seems that the lamb mold requires a special dense cake recipe so that the cake can stand when you unmold it. It was really delicious!

I do not know of that tradition!
This tradition is called Śmigus-dyngus. We (Hungarians) call it Locsolkodás. This tradition is held mostly in central Europe.

Yes. I know, I know you're really happy when they're with you, I know how that feels. Recently my cousin and my aunt came from Colombia and we were really happy to be together.
Beautiful photos. I'm not religious either, but we always liked to gather on holidays. Now it makes me sad because my father is no longer alive but I try to be happy for my children. Lamb cake looks wonderful! I would also like to try a lemon cake. I'm a cake lover. 😊 We are celebrating Easter next week, my son can't wait to decorate the eggs. 😊
The cakes were both good and very different. The lamb cake was heavy and dense which allowed it to stand up without breaking into pieces, and the lemon cake was light and absolutely perfect. I am a cake lover also, so I loved both of them. Have fun decorating eggs!

No It's a pound cake recipe. You fill the front half of the mold level full, cover that with the back half of the very well greased mold, and as it bakes the batter rises into the back. It ends up being one solid chunk of cake!
