Christmas shopping via the blockchain!
My first ever purchase using Hive as payment!
Two of my grandkids love rocks and minerals as much as I do and for the past several years one of their Christmas gifts from me has been a rock that I have purchased from @rt395 in his Etsy shop.
This year, after reading his post about collecting candy opals I contacted him. There weren't any in his shop, but he told me that he would look through his specimens and find two that were in my price range.

When he suggested using Hive to pay for my purchase I quickly looked in my wallet to determine if I had enough liquid and within seconds I had completed my Christmas shopping!
We both were feeling good that he didn't have to give Etsy 20%, of the purchase amount.
My package safely arrived yesterday, successfully making the trip from California to Wisconsin.
The opals are beautiful, and I know the kids will love them. I will give them a link to Erik's post so they can learn more about their rocks and see where they came from.
Included in the package, Erik very generously sent along 2 small corundum (ruby/sapphire) specimens from the L.A. mountains. The neat thing about those is they fluoresce really bright under UV light. The kids are going to love them!
Now to get them wrapped and under the tree!

It would be fun to have lots of easy ways to spend Hive! Since Erik already had my address I literally only had to transfer Hive to him and I was done.
More people should do this (pay with Hive), and more stores should accept Hive. I would love to see Hive as a regular payment option in the stores. For example I would gladly buy food with it.

When I first heard of Bitcoin, the price was in the 1,000 USD range per. I was totally impressed that a cybercoin can fetch such a high price fiat money. I also found out that Bitcoin was valued at US cents when it started out and slowly rose to that level. Months passed by and Bitcoin hit USD 4K per and I couldn't believe it. Why was it increasing in value when it's just a cybercurrency? Then I read somewhere that Bitcoin was accepted as a mode of payment in over a hundred thousand establishments worldwide. And that was when everything started to make sense. For as long as people are willing to exchange goods and services for something as intangible as a cybercurrency, then it will have value. And when I joined the previous Blockchain I knew that one way the value of Steem, or Hive now, will follow the way of Bitcoin is if more establishments become open to accept Hive as a medium of exchange for goods and services. This is clearly manifested in what just transpired with your purchase using Hive. With more people and establishments doing this, we won't have to wait that much longer for Hive to moon. Way to go @melinda010100.
My son encouraged me to buy BTC at $25 but I was newly divorced and living paycheck to paycheck and didn't feel that I could spend money on something so foolish as pretend money! 💰 It was fun shopping using Hive!

I'm glad they made the journey to you safe and on time. Thank you so much for the purchase. I kept much of the HIVE in the ecosystem by using a bunch of it for Splinterlands. I hope we have the ability to do a lot more purchases like ours next year instead of giving away so much of our value to 3rd parties.
