How does this work?

I've tried boosting other user's posts a couple of times, and always got my points back. Then I read somewhere that you can only boost your own posts. So how do I use my points to give someone a vote?

You can use ecency points to boost your own posts and the post of others as well... Why you get your points back?

It's either the post you boosted is of low quality, or the post is past 24hrs - 2 days it was published.

And in some cases, it's simply network I think but I hardly get my points back when I follow those ideas I shared

Thanks for the reply! I get the points back because the post doesn't get boosted. I'm pretty sure the posts I have tried to boost were less than 24h old, but I'll try again when I find another post I think worth it!

Boost new posts. Less than 24 hours old is best. Make sure the amount of your boost coincides with the amount of effort put into the post.
