Good Will Hunting-CineTV Weekly Discussion Group

avatar
(Edited)

A new community, CineTV launched in the Hive blockchain this week!
It is a place where all of us can get rewarded for writing about movies and TV shows.
I can't wait to hear what you have been watching! I'll be stopping by often to read the posts and curating with the CINE tokens that are delegated to my @mel010100-cinetv curation account. I'm really excited about this project and hope to see all of you there!

We all were invited to watch the movie Good Will Hunting

We are going to kick off this week with a film for all of you to watch and discuss. This will run from today until next Friday, which will give you a week and a day to watch it and discuss it. I will be taking part too, because I think a great leader does so by example, and hey, I want to have an excuse to sit down and watch a movie in the middle of the day! Haha. Wouldn't you?

I saw this movie when it came out in the theater in 1997 and absolutely loved it and was thrilled when young Matt Damon and Ben Affleck won an Oscar for writing the screenplay, but I had not seen it since. This was a perfect excuse to take an evening off from Hive and have a movie night.

Popcorn, a snuggly blanket, and a quick $3.99 payment to Amazon Prime for a 48 hour rental and I was good to go!

It occurred to me that this was the first Robin Williams movie that I have watched since he died. I couldn't put it off any longer, but I will always be sad everytime I think of what we all lost

There is nothing about this movie that I don't like. Minnie Driver plays the girlfriend that Will pushes away because he doesn't think he deserves her. Will was beaten down as a kid and I love watching him grow and develop with the help of the people who care about him and attempt to save him from self destruction.

I will be hoping to see more people posting about this movie this week. Having a weekly Film and Discussion group here on Hive seems like such a fun idea and I am very excited about the future of this tribe!

Can't believe this brilliant movie started as an assignment for class in university. Loved the movie when i caught it on dvd back in the early 00s.

I'm really impressed with the dialog. It stays believable all the way through the film. The Robin Williams 'Your move, chief' monolog is brilliant.

Really that nuts, I would have never thought that. They nailed this script

Yeah, really impressive stuff by two university kids. Matt Damon especially.

Superb is definitely the right word for this one! I am so glad that @raymondspeaks chose this for the first CINETV Discussion Group watch. It was a joy to watch it again!

It occurred to me that this was the first Robin Williams movie that I have watched since he died.

I watched most of his movies only after he died. Except jumanji i think! Ah good day!

He is a favorite of mine and I had seen many of them as they were released. It's a great tribute to him that you watched them after he died.

The latest one i have had the time to watch was insomnia!

It's a great tribute to him that you watched them after he died.

In a sense it is! Ah may god bless his soul!

You are in the same boat as me, I don't watch a lot of movies these days more TV shows. Jumanji is a real classic

I LOVED that movie too !

I haven't seen so many movies in my life when they first came out, some sure, but probably less than average. I would see them later when we use to have to actually go to a store to rent them or much later catch them on some cable channel.

There are very few movies too that I would care to watch again once in a long while, but this one I wouldn't mind.

You sound like me. Once I have seen a movie I seldom re-watch it. I would not have rewatched this one without the prompting of CINETV, but I am really glad that I did.

I love seeing movies in theaters. When the new Robert Redford Sundance theater opened in 2007 I drove the 50 miles once a week for several years and met up with an old friend for lunch and a movie. She is a huge movie buff and always picked great movies for us to watch.
She got transfered to a job in DC, and it had become easier for me to watch movies from home. It's been several years since I went to a theater. I think the Colorado movie theater mass shooting ended my joy of going to the movies.

The scene when William's character tells Damon's "isn't your fault" several times in a row is so powerful and extremely well-acted.

That is so powerful. I wonder how many people have been helped to heal from past wounds because of that scene.

I'm looking forward to rewatching this :) - I'll make a post when I'm ready in the next few days.

Oh good, I will be looking forward to hearing what she thinks of it as a first time watcher! It had been well over 20 years since I had watched it.

I do have to say after watching last night I don't remember any of it. But man the story the acting are all top-notch.

Some parts are really touching, I love how will never give up his morals and didn't want to use his brain and knowledge for bad.

Then we got robin Williams who I always remember being the comedian in movies like ms Doubtfire and he planned such a perfect role as a serious DR.

Can't wait to see what others have to say.

I felt the same way about not remembering any of it from the first time I saw it years ago! Robin Williams was a truly gifted actor.
