Happy Mothers Day
Happy Mothers Day to everyone! Anyone who loves and nurtures someone else deserves to be celebrated today!
My family was here for the weekend and as is becoming a tradition, they made my yard and deck beautiful and ready to be enjoyed this summer.
Shortly after they arrived, my son and daughter in law made a trip to the nursery and came back with a car load of plants!
This time of year going to the nursery can be more than a bit challenging! It opened at 9 am, they arrived at 9:01 and already the parking lot was packed and the only available parking was in the grass.
We spent the entire day outdoors. Flying the drone, cooking steaks on the grill, and lots of photos being taken of birds.
There was even a bit of tree climbing!
The neighbors chicken came over to enjoy being part of our 'flock'. Her two sisters didn't survive the winter and I think she is lonely, but I've heard that 4 new little chicks are being raised, so I'm expecting to have more chickens visiting this summer.
I'm quite excited to have beautiful flowers to enjoy and take photos of this summer. Before they were even planted they were already attracting hummingbirds and pollinators!

She let's her chickens free range and they spend most of the day in my yard. They do a great job keeping the weeds down here, and are so friendly. They even leave an egg for me once in a while, so I have no complaints. 🥚
I heard that chickens can survive in very cold temperatures. Maybe this is not true. Or those chickens were not completely healthy.
Either way, you really have loads of plants, which is beautiful.

I don't think it was the temperatures, but rather the chicken owners dog that is constantly running loose. Poor things.

Good morning Melinda, what a wonderful family you have. I love the carload pix, hoping to fill mine while Bob is in Physical Therapy Today will be his first visit there, he's just 6 days post surgery. His entire leg is still so swollen and bruised I am not sure how much will happen, but I will be glad to have the therapist revaluate him.
I'm sure you will get many days to enjoy your beautiful flowers and those crazy chickens, love it!

You have such a wonderful place with this terrace and the woods around you. Happy your family made it a blooming outdoor summer space for you.
Hehe and this chicken is cool! You could build a nest so she can lay her eggs in front of your door ;-)
It is so funny to see her come walking through the woods every morning! She stays in my yard all day long and in the evening she goes back through the woods to her hen house. That blue box that is hanging behind her is a nest box. She goes in there all the time oh, but she has never laid an egg in there. She prefers laying eggs in my flower pots!
