Season Hunt Challenge - Fall Fruits

avatar
(Edited)

The theme for @barbara-orenya 's Season Hunt Challenge this week is Fall Fruits. You have until Thursday, November 25th to enter.

You can read all about it HERE

I was happy that she included nuts, as I am unable to grow apples or pears here in the woods! But I have plenty of nuts in my yard!

This is not a contest entry, but a reminder for you to enter and show us what kinds of fruits grow in your part of the world during this time of year. Are they more tropical than what grows here?

Acorns are the most plentiful.

And the local wildlife are thrilled to have them!

It's awesome that you grow your own walnuts! They're so versatile, as a brownie topping or adding a little crunch to a chicken salad! 😃

They are native here and grow in the woods and along the roads. They have a stronger flavor than English walnuts do, but I can't imagine making banana bread without them The husks stain everything black and they are almost impossible to crack without a vise. The squirrels gather most of them before they hit the ground, which is probably good because they can leave dents in anything they fall on. I have one close enough to the house that I jump everytime one hits the roof!

I have acorns fall on my roof, and I can imagine how much louder a larger walnut would be! 😱 I had no clue they were so hard to crack and stained everything black! I'll never complain again about how hard the packages from the market are to open! 😂

The last three photos reminds me of the Ice Age (2002) movie. This was one of the first movies I watched in a cinema with my family as a kid at that time. I was 10 years old in 2002. Pleasant memories.

An interesting challenge @melinda010100. In Indonesia, guava usually fall during the rainy season.

Ah, the memories. I remember going out as kids and gathering buckets of the black walnuts. Then our uncle showing us how to husk them to get to the nut. Of course, what he didn't tell us was how long our hands would be stained afterwards! I think he left that part out on purpose and took a bit of enjoyment from our dismay when it didn't wash off very well!

I haven't spotted any up here yet, but haven't really been looking. Will have to keep my eye out for them now.

Hola feliz noche, junto a mi hijo y mi esposa estuvimos viendo tu publicación.
