This week's battle challenge focuses on the Grim Reaper:

Grim Reapers are often spotted by the dying, or reported by those who return from near-death experiences. Their faces are not shown. The Reapers’ black cloaks are so heavy that they scrape on the ground as they approach. Each Reaper’s long bony fingers clutch the handle of a great scythe. It is said that the Reaper’s scythe is used to literally cleave a soul asunder from its body at the time of death. In battle, the scythes are generally used as an unblockable projectile.

Card Details

An Reward rare rarity monster from the Death Splinter at level 4:

  • Estimated cost: $1.156
  • Mana cost: 6
  • Range attack: 4
  • Speed: 3
  • Health: 4
  • Affliction ability: When a Monster with affliction hits a target, it has a chance of applying affliction on the target causing it to be unable to be healed.

A useful reward card that every player completing their daily quests has a chance to be rewarded with. A high mana cost, range damage card, which does useful damage paired with good speed. However, it does have lowish health and will be vulnerable against enemy monsters with sneak and opportunity abilities. This card does shine in battles against Splinters stacked with healing monsters (e.g. Life Splinter). When applied to an enemy monster, the affliction ability can prevent an enemy monster from being healed. This can be useful in turning the tide of the battle.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

No, my strategy worked out terribly. My opponent's backline magic damage monsters destroyed my backline range damage monsters. This wasn't even a contest. Nonetheless, the Grim Reaper formed part of the trio backline of range damage monsters. In any other battles having a backline that does 9 range damage would do great. The Grim Reaper did try to do its part, but dealing a couple of crucial blows, but unfortunately stood no chance against a superior opponent.

Do you like the Grim Reaper? Why or why not?

I love to continue to accumulate the Grim Reaper through completing the daily quests. The Grim Reaper joins a slew of range monsters that do decent to good damage in the Death Splinter. The downside to the card is that it has low health for its relatively high mana cost, but it's still relatively cheap if you were looking to purchase it from the market.
