The Stranger In "When You Lose A Loved One" By Iskawrites - A Story Review

In the spirit of NanoWrimo and for the love of the collaboration still ongoing in this great community, I've been motivated once again to share my view on a story I came across. It's surprising how this story grabbed my attention because honestly, it is one of the least kind of story title to grab my attention.

I'm the kind that loves happy stories, sweet titles and amazing storyline that makes me imagine and smile to myself... This story just isn't any of that for me at first glance but here I am making a review of it because I somehow got to read it to the end and saw that it was worth more readers to have a good read of it.

Looking at the title, you might want to scroll past the story for something more fun but what's the essence of life if we don't stop sometimes to think about what happens after life, what it means to know someone who lost his or her life... This story is that "Pause time" for you if you'll consider reading it.

Firstly, I'll like to ask the writer @iskawrites what inspired this story in her to share... I could feel a deeper sense while reading it and honestly, it wasn't a good or sweet feeling. Oh yeah, the story isn't one either so it's understandable. But knowing the inspiration behind this story will make complete for me, the reader.

About the story and the stranger in it

Considering the title, I didn't expect the way the story began until I got to the point where I read about a character losing her hardworking father who didn't live extravagantly but comfortable enough. It also went on to talk about the bereaved family having some visitors come over to comfort them even though the mother of the main character was a kind of interested on how wealthy the visitors were.

Then came the terrible moment of the story...

Honestly, I had to read this part more than once to understand what exactly was going on... Still not sure I get the whole point which I believe the writer will clarify when she stops by but from what I could understand and why I would want you to go read the story too is...

The Stranger who gave the graveside speech

He talked about the sea which the narrator found so astonishing

Is that a thing about those seas that is being used to describe eternity or crossing over to the spirit land? The more I tried to gain full understanding of this part of the stranger's questioning, the deeper I felt I was going into life and death mystery... The writer must have a wild imaginations on this one.

He also brought out a picture from his pocket

Who would thought that a picture taken could mean a whole lot of things? The stranger brought out a picture that caused an emotional commotion for the narrator and her mother. A picture that was revealing to have the narrator in it, how is that possible?

Then the stranger put his arms around his wife's shoulder

That part was shocking to me because the narrator made me understand that the stranger's wife is dead so whose shoulder did he put his arms around? Imaginative huh? That was a good move with the story, I must say.

The story ended well so you wouldn't need to worry about a sad ending because of it's title, it's a long read but has a very beautiful meaning if you'll read deep into it.

I must commend the writer @iskawrites of this story as I find it a little bit out of the ordinary to come up with such a story, it took me on an imaginative realm which I love and I like that the narrator has a closure in the end as she thought in the end...

And I remember that no matter how hard things get, they're not going to last forever...

Make sure to check out the story, it would definitely be worth your read.

Dear, @merit.ahama, I have lost more loved ones than I can count. Some to death and others to timely decisions made by them or myself. 🥺

Is that a thing about those seas that is being used to describe eternity or crossing over to the spirit land? The more I tried to gain a full understanding of this part of the stranger's questioning, the deeper I felt I was going into a life-and-death mystery... I love water. I could bathe an entire Ocean if given the chance. I don't know if you understand but there's a connection to the sea that I can't describe. Water has this soothing feeling, and the sea brings that calm.

Yeah, I know water can be destructive too. It could drown someone and can destroy habitats through floods.

So you could see the connection with death. Losing a loved one creates a lot of vacuum. Depending on the scenario that made them die, the loved one who died could have wanted to go and rest his mortal body.

So, like the water, you could see the two sides to death. When one dies, they rest, and every worldly affliction does not affect them anymore. But at the same time, their deaths could break the hearts of those closest to them.

That part was shocking to me because the narrator made me understand that the stranger's wife is dead so whose shoulder did he put his arms around? Imaginative huh? That was a good move with the story, I must say.

Sweetheart, I am as shocked as you are at that part of the story😂😂...I must have been drunk with sadness when I wrote this story.🥺

Thanks so much for the review. Next time, if I am not drunk, I'll cross-check everything and make sure they match up 🙌🙌

Thanks, babe. ❣️

Oh dear! Now I understand a whole lot about your inspiration for this story... I totally understand why you were drunk with sadness 🥺

Regardless of that, the story was worth reading and that makes it superb... Thanks for sharing your emotions in it.

I think I'll go study water and seas 😅 I really know nothing about that connection you're referring to
