I've learned something new from your post - Javanese... I googled it right away. Nice. you seem to be from a very mixed tribe.
When I lived in the Netherlands, everyone from Suriname assumed I was from there:)
History is so fascinating and cultures and people make the world more fascinating.

When looking at your own pictures I could see why the Surinamers might think that, you could easily go for one of us. But in Suriname there are a lot of people of many colors and ethnicities. A friend of mine, who has Asian descent, is now living in another part of the world and people often mistake him as from the Philippines and he constantly needs to tell them he's from South America.
And we indeed have a lot of mixed people here in this generation, but there are still people who marry inside of their own culture. But that's their prerogative I guess, what feels comfortable. But we do try as a people, to at least listen and learn from each other. Some are more open to it than others.
