Something about my love for Music in the past - And a Great Find!

My very first celebrity crush was Elvis Presley.
I just loved everything about him. His looks, his moves, his voice... I loved his songs and his movies, and my mom and my grandmother loved watching them with me.
My dad and brother weren't a fan though. We always used to say that they were jealous of him.

I still remember very vividly the day the radio presenter announced that the King had died. I was still very young, only a pre-schooler, but I heard it and I cried my heart out. My mother walked into the room and panicked because she thought I had hurt myself. I used to be quite the emotional kid haha.

In my pre-teen and teenage years, I listened to a lot of different kinds of music but as most of my peers, mostly whatever was on the radio.
However, my parent's music taste, as well as the music our direct relatives (mainly my uncle, on my mother's side) listened to, also rubbed off on me sometimes. I also liked what my brother, who is 16 years older than me, used to love, but not so much what my sister liked (6 years older). I still don't like her kind of music haha.

Due to that, I think my music was a bit different from the music my peers listened to. Some of it, they'd never even heard about!

Most of my peers loved Michael Jackson. And sure, I loved him too but couldn't really make myself listen to his music all day. The only videos I watched over and over again were Billy Jean, and later Thriller. And yes, I could do the dance... ;)
But that was it, other than those songs, he didn't really thrill me.

The One And Only

When my peers were very much into Jackson, and other pop stars, I discovered the one and only. The one that stayed with me for many years, and who is still here with me on certain days today.

I'd listen to his music when I was sad, happy, when I had friend or boy issues, or whenever I had been in an argument with one of my family members.
He'd sing loudly into my ears through my headphones when I walked the dogs, and on my way to school.
I knew all his moves, all his lyrics, and by the time I was going to highschool, I knew more about him than anyone around me. I was a true fan. I even had the honour to see him during 1 of the concerts he did in the Netherlands. The other day was cancelled, so I was lucky.
His music was pop music but not so 'poppy' like most other artists were. He definitely had his own style. The artist himself was multi-talented, and he attracted the likes of him to himself like a magnet. He seemed to be surrounded by big talents all the time.

A Great find

Before I tell you who my one and only in music was at the time, if you haven't guessed it yet, I want to share something really special with you.

Someone recently discovered a video of some interviews at a school. It turns out it was the school where the artist went to as a child.
But not only that, because in one segment, it was him that was being interviewed! He was 11 years old!
They checked with some people who'd be able to verify this, and it was him. Not that I needed that confirmation because I could see it right away.

Of course, the artist is no other than Prince!
Later he changed this to Love Symbol but to me he will always be just Prince.

Please enjoy the video of him as an 11 year old child. What a find huh?
Did you recognize him right away?

My first celebrity crush was Olivia Newton-John. Her singing and dancing really spoke to me especially her performances in Grease, and Xanadu made an impression.

Ohhh, yes! I think she was many teen boys' crush back in the day.
I loved her in Grease, and John Travolta was on my list too hehe.
There was just something about that time that made movies more memorable
I think. Nowadays there's too much, I can't keep up with all that's new.
When I was growing up, we would go see every new blockbuster. Nowadays
you'd have to have very deep pockets to see them all, and a lot of spare
time on your hands.
