Vegan Playa Del Carmen: Authentic Indian Food

I really wouldn't know, to be honest, because I've never been to India.
However, I lived in Singapore, where a big chunk of the population consists of Indian people, and there are lots of Indian restaurants and food stalls all over the country, so I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing to make it authentic, even if it's not India.
And this food was as close as it could get to what I was used to in Singapore.
Amazing!

So I went to this Indian restaurant in Playa del Carmen, called Aryan Indian Food, which made it extra special because it's also my son's name. He's named after Arya Stark from Game of Thrones because she was badass...
But the name means 'Nobel and Strong' in Sanskrit, and that was a great extra bonus.
No, nothing to do with the ugliness the Nazis were using the name for.
We all know they stole the swastika too...

Anyway. This restaurant is a tiny little place, and you'd miss it if you didn't know it was there.

The place had only around 8 tables, so still small and cozy, and it can never get too busy. The staff is super friendly!

On their menu they have a variety of authentic Indian dishes, and quite a good selection of vegan and vegetarian food as well.
I opted for the vegetable korma, which came with rice.
I ordered a lentil dish as well, and garlic naan bread with a yoghurt dip.
All of which was full of flavour. I LOVE coriander, and there was lots of that in there. So I was a happy camper hehe.

This was a lovely painting on the wall of the restaurant.

This was the vegetable korma curry dish that I ordered. It was amazing!

The same dish again with the dip. Simply divine!!!

And if you're a picky eater, who doesn't like anything but bread, then this naan bread is the best you'll ever taste!

I will definitely go back to this place. Check it out here, on Tripadvisor for more info.

If you're ever in Playa del Carmen, and longing for some authentic Indian food, please make sure you visit here.
I can guarantee that you won't regret it!

Whoever is directly controlling the V2K told me to kill myself.
They told me if I killed myself now it would save the lives of countless others.
Saying the longer I wait to kill myself the more people will suffer.

They are reckless and should have shown the proper media what they had before taking me hostage for 5 years. I know there are many in prison that dont deserve to be there because of this. Your stay in prison will not be fun @battleaxe and friends. People are going to want you dead when they find out what you did. I hope you die a slow painful death. You sick mother fuckers.

Its a terrorist act on American soil while some say its not real or Im a mental case. Many know its real. This is an ignored detrimental to humanity domestic and foreign threat. Ask informed soldiers in the American military what their oath is and tell them about the day you asked me why. Nobody has I guess. Maybe someone told ill informed soldiers they cant protect America from military leaders in control with ill intent. How do we protect locked up soldiers from telling the truth?

I love Indian food, since I lived in Trinidad and Tobago for a while (18 years ago) I haven't eaten it and I haven't found a place to go to enjoy those special flavors again.
Although I am not close to Playa del Carmen, thanks for the recommendation.

Oh, Trinidad and Tobago! I still want to go there one day.
I lived in St. Martin for a while.
Where are you living now?
Thank you for stopping by!

Me too, I have never been to India, but love their food. I did live in North West London which has a huge Indian population, so I got to taste authentic food there. I really miss it living here. xxxx

Yes!!! I know the Indian London scene haha. Some time ago, we were in London for something, and I thought I'd park the car near Wimbledon or so, and then take public transport into the city.
We walked past this Indian place. It was huge, with just really long benches and tables. Almost like you'd see in those movies in prison haha. Or highschools.
Anyway, it was PACKED with people. And all Indian. So I said: This is where we'll get food tonight.
We did. We got back there around 10 pm. Still quite busy. We paid 20 pounds for me and my friend, had two drinks each, two dishes each and some samosas. We ate there, had the rest to take away and had the rest for breakfast the next day. That was good value for money haha. And the food was amazing.
No wonder all the people in the area would go there.

I've never tried Indian food but if I ever get the chance it will definitely be a vegan one, haha. Thanks for sharing the recipe! ☺️

Oooh, never tried it!! If you love lots of flavour, and maybe some spice, you'll definitely love Indian food!
And they have lots of different kinds of food, so if you don't like one, there's always something else. :)

That's great! I'm not a fan of spicy food but I'm sure I'll find one to like :)

Yeah, they definitely have options that are not so spicy.
And oftentimes they ask because not everyone likes spicy food.

I love me some curries 😋 Born and raised in Durban, South Africa, which also has a large Indian population. I even got my wife into curries, even though she didn't touch spicy foods until we met 😁

Happy Sunday!

Haha, good influence lol. In our house, 3 like spicy, and 3 don't, so it's an equal number.
But they tend to eat more spicy now than they ever did.
But for me, Indian food shouldn't be too spicy because it'll overpower the flavours then.

Yummm! I always loved Indian food but had only had the Canadian versions until my wife was working at a hotel with a family from the Punjab and they came over to the house and cooked dinner with her. They made dal and naan with a few masala dishes and it was amazing. It was the only time I could picture myself being a vegetarian. They left us a lot of the spices but we have never been able to replicate the flavours. I wish they still lived here to give us a few more lessons.

I forgot that I was supposed to say I came here from ListNerds.

Ohhh, that sounds amazing! Yeah, it's very hard to replicate from scratch.
I've managed to come close but never exactly like it.
I'd love to learn from someone from India, that would be awesome.
And yes, vegetarian would be easy peasy if it's Indian food.
Thanks for stopping by!! Is that also your user name on Listnerds?
