My first Hive meet-up in London

avatar

My husband Gian and I finished our workday early so that we could attend our first Hive Meet-up, which was held at Cafe 1001 in Brick Lane, London yesterday.
Despite the unfavourable weather, particularly current low temperatures, we couldn't miss up this opportunity because we were so excited to meet other members of the Hive community.
Even though my husband and I occasionally work in London, we both prefer to work from home these days, due to the chilly weather. However Hive meet-up was a good reason to go to London. As a matter of fact, around 3.30 PM, we jumped in the car and headed to Kew Gardens.

This is me ready to go 😉😂

And this is how it seemed on the outside 😂

It only took us around 40 minutes to arrive because, fortunately, there weren't as many cars around as we had thought. We continued our journey by taking the District Lane from Kew Gardens to White Chapel after locating a decent parking space for our car and said farewell to its cosy inside temperature.
We were surprised to see a large number of individuals still out and about in the cold, some of them in quite light or minimal clothing, and we wondered if hats or gloves would have made us both feel more comfortable.
We also loved reacquainting ourselves with this neighbourhood, which we were familiar with from attending numerous art events but hadn't been in a while, as we made our way from White Chapel to @Cafe1001.
Additionally, there are numerous various types of cafes, shops, and restaurants. As we strolled down the street, we frequently received invitations to enter the restaurant for a meal or drink from the doorman of these locations. Although the fragrances flowing from their place were rather tempting, we proceeded on to the meeting site because we weren't simply there for supper. Right?! 😁
As soon as we entered Cafe 1001, we headed upstairs and found the table with the other Hive members right in front of us. It was simple to locate because it had Hive branded items on it.
My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting @adetorrent, @steevc, @tdctunes, @heruvim1978, @basilmarples, @mcsamm, and Paolo.
It was extremely exciting to meet other Hive members, some of whom had been a part of the community for a very long time, such @adetorrent and @steevc.

With this pic I wanted to capture the playing team getting ready for the evening⬇️

Having face-to-face interactions with users of a cryptocurrency social platform was an incredible experience that I had never had before. I must admit that it was a wonderful experience, and I believe that it may be the kind of step to do in order to create a strong crypto community around Hive or any other crypto project generally: People coming together and exchanging ideas, experiences, and perspectives.

I would like to thank you all of you guys, for giving me the chance to learn more about the Hive project and its community. I hope we will soon get the chance to discuss and meet again, and why not see more Hive members, especially women 😂 as I was the only one there this time. Ladies, please!!!! 🙌💪

This is Brick Lane in the late evening after the meet-up was finished ⬇️

Although I didn't capture any particularly good pictures, other members did, and I'll provide links to some of their amazing posts for anyone who's interested.

It was great to have you both with us, so well done on braving the weather. I think everyone has something to contribute to events like this as we all have different experience. Even if someone is struggling with Hive we can figure out ways to help them. Nobody should feel left out.

I am sure there will be more events soon. There are lots of ladies on Hive and I hope some will come along.

Thanks again! I really appreciated your support. I think we are all on the right path since a community may benefit from the diversity of experiences.

I would have loved to be there! Traveled from The Netherlands to London one time for a London meet-up, who know I'll do it again next year :D Good to see the many familiar faces <3

It's great seeing new faces from Team UK as I do think we're rather under represented as a nation. So glad you enjoyed meeting the rest of the gang, it makes so much difference to ones Hive experience.

And thanks for including the links from the other attendees

Thank you! It’s a pleasure being part of this community and you are right, I’m surprised we are not so many here in the UK.
Hope that will change soon. I’m still learning about posting on Hive, but I find posting others attendees links in this case, will help the whole community to have a bigger and better picture about this meet-up.😊

Wait, what? You really pushed through with that weather?

It's really great to see Hivers meeting up in person! Seems like an experience you will remember and keep on doing.
