A New Wave Of Games Are Coming To Hive

image.png

Hive is currently experiencing a Cambrian explosion of play-to-earn games. In 2023, the number of games that can be played on Hive has increased tremendously. And most of the Hive games in test/alpha versions are ambitious. In this post, I'll cover games that have been developing since last year, such as Splinterlands Land, Soulkeep, Genesis League Goals, PsyberX, and Ragnarok. On the other hand, mini-games such as Terracore and Golem Overlord attracted significant attention, so I will also mention them.

The Secret of Praetoria

Recently, Splinterlands landowners have seen their plots on the map. In addition, a comprehensive white paper has been published about the game. Competition is high in the card game, which made Splinterlands popular with gamers. Playing the card game requires dedication. Praetoria is a more accessible way to participate in the exciting world of Splinterlands. The main version of the game is expected to launch in June. Praetoria players will earn cards and SPS by staking cards and DEC on their plots. Trade will be carried out in the keep and castles on the properties. Yesterday Aggroed mentioned that a castle in Praetoria was sold for USD 16k. When the land game comes into play, it will create a unique player base. Also, the recently released land visuals are pretty cool.

Soulkeep

The test version of Soulkeep, the tower defense game of Splinterlands, is still active. Tower defense is a game category with a large fan base. And it is thematically fitting for the Splinterlands universe. Defending against strange monsters seems tempting to me. Since I do not have the required number of NFT packages, I did not personally experience the test version of the game. I liked the insects, frogs, worms, and cursed hands I saw in the Youtube videos. I also like the name and logo of the game.

The main version of Soulkeep is scheduled to go live in June.

Genesis League Goals

Within the scope of Genesis League Goals (GLS), a football strategy game, NFT pack openings have started to be made recently. At the beginning of the project, I purchased 110 packages. I opened a pack to experience the process. The following players came out of the pack.

The game was scheduled to become playable in the second quarter. So, at the latest, we can play a licensed football strategy game on Hive in June. The excitement of the competition among the community members will multiply once the prize pool becomes active. Player cards will gain experience as they are used in the game. This feature still needs to be added to the Splinterlands. Therefore, I will open my card packs when the time comes.

PSYBERX

First Player Shooter (FPS) game PsyberX has been available for free on Steam for a while. PsyberX, one of the ambitious projects developed on Hive, is a game that includes plenty of Cyberpunk elements. The NFTs of the game, which were offered for sale last year, still need to be actively used. Still, prize-winning tournaments are played on PsyberX. I installed the game on my veteran computer this morning and played for half an hour. The atmosphere created allowed me to get into the mood with the contribution of the music. I'm not a talented FPS player, so I'll not be playing the game in the coming months. Still, PsyberX is one of the projects I follow with enthusiasm. We are now waiting for the updated white paper of the game to be released. Below is a frame from the game.

The PsyberX team also developed the Psyber-Decks card game. The game with PsyberX NFTs is in the alpha testing phase. On the other hand, Serfdom & Sorcery, developed by the same team, is also playable on Discord.

Ragnarok

Ragnarok, another ambitious project announced last year, is still in the testing phase. Ragnarok is a game inspired by poker and chess. Last year, the game's Duat cryptocurrency was airdropped to Hive community members. When the game's NFTs are released, we will have NFTs of the game's mythological heroes using Duat. It was announced recently that the visuals of 200 NFTs are ready. The following examples were also shared in the announcement.

The project team has yet to officially announce when the game, which is still in the alpha testing phase, will launch.

TerraCore

Terracore game became the center of attention within a few weeks on Hive. Terracore is set in a dystopian setting where hundreds of players still play. Players are trying to mine Scrap, steal Scrap from opponents, and protect their Scraps. Scrap token is traded on Hive Engine. The entrance fee for the game is 20 Hive. I joined the game last week, and thanks to the scraps I earned, I returned my initial investment of 20 Hive. I was involved in the game for support purposes, but as I won Scrap, I got motivated. I continue to play the game because it takes me half an hour daily.

Golem Overlord

The success of a Terracore inspired the builders of Golem Overlord. I just started playing Golem Overlord yesterday. The first difference I noticed is that attacks are more likely to fail. While the game mechanics are similar, Golem Overlord has unique aspects. And this game has become a phenomenon on Hive. Below are the statistics of the game updated in near real-time. Only today, 753 accounts were included in the game. Those are pretty good stats for a game that is just a few days old. The project team continues to develop the game.

TL;DR

Production versions of most of the play-to-earn games I listed above will be available in the summer. By the end of the summer, the number of Hive users may increase dramatically. Will the Hive price be affected by this? The comment is yours.

Thank you for reading.

Broh not joking I literally have about 60 usd that I acquired from both terra core and golem overlord....

And that doesn't include the upgrades I've made and the coins Ive already sold... Those games have easily made me more than 100 usd... Easy easy.

Psyberx... That just looks insane, along with ragnarok.. I am dying to play that game

I have taken my initial investment of 20 Hive in TerraCore and made a substantial amount of upgrades. I am new to Golem Overlord, made several upgrades, and didn't take any cash yet.

I think the Hive price will definitely be affected. These games have garnered a lot of interest in their development phase, meaning there's great potential to them. P2E games and their economic models an attractive option in the gaming world.

I want to throw my game in as well. I announced and released the pre-alpha in 3 months. Currently with game testers right now.

Here is a post from one of the players.
