United Nations of Hive

I love the cosmopolitan nature of Hive. People from all over the world connect to this network for different purposes and motivations. This situation caught my attention when I wrote about the Rising Star game. The research I have done has also enabled me to obtain information about the demography of Hive users.

The data that I will interpret below are based on Similarweb and Dappradar statistics. These statistics do not fully reflect the landscape. For example, the reports do not include users of countries such as China, India, and Russia. The country statistics of users connecting to the Internet via VPN are also reflected in the reports differently.

However, these statistics contain essential clues about the distribution of Hive users by country and how often they use different applications.

Splinterlands.com

Splinterlands is the most used app in the Hive ecosystem, with 2.2 million monthly visits. 70% of app users are male, and 30% are female. These rates are also valid for Hive applications in general. Splinterlands are used the most in the USA, Philippines, England, Germany, and Canada, respectively.

Judging from Splinterlands users, Hive can be considered a network that is appealing to the citizens of western countries, but other applications present us with a different picture.

Risingstargame.com

The music career game Rising Star is the second most visited application in the Hive ecosystem, with 901k monthly visitors. It caught my attention that 43% of the game players were women, as this rate is 30% in all other applications.

The top five countries where the Rising Star Game is played the most are Venezuela, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, and Ukraine. We see that the game is quite popular in South America.

Peakd.com

With 824k monthly visitors, Peakd is the most popular of the blogging frontends. 75% of Peakd users are 44 years or younger. The age range where Peakd is used most intensively is between 18-24 with 25%.

The age distribution based on applications does not show remarkable changes—13% of Hive users are aged 55 and over.

Peakd is most commonly used by residents of Venezuela, Brazil, the USA, the Netherlands, and Mexico. Venezuela has a significant share among Peakd users, with 30%. When we evaluate the statistics of all applications, we see that Venezuelan residents make up about a quarter of Hive users. At this stage, I would like to reiterate that some countries are not included in Similarweb reports.

Hive.blog

The users of Hive.blog, which reached 521k visitors in July, are similar to the users of other applications in terms of age and gender distribution. Among the countries where Hive.blog's visitors reside, Venezuela, USA, Uganda, England, and Germany are at the top.

Ecency.com

Ecency is one of Hive's ambitious blogging sites with 392k monthly visitors. Among the countries where Ecency users reside, Venezuela, Turkey, Ukraine, and Germany are at the top. This ranking shows that Turks mostly prefer Ecency for their blogging frontend.

Leofinance.io

Leo Finance is the tribe site with the highest number of visitors, with 138k monthly visitors. Uganda, Czech Republic, Netherlands, USA, and the UK are the top five countries in Leo Finance's traffic. 38% of Leo Finance users are women.

3speak.tv

3speak.tv is one of the essential Hive applications with 112k monthly visitors. The statistics on the number of visitors I benefited from are for July. 3speak.tv was visited 50% more in July compared to June.

3speak.tv is watched in the USA, Venezuela, Australia, Canada, and Switzerland.

Conclusion

The statistics of applications running on Hive show us that play-to-earn games are becoming more critical for Hive daily. After Splinterlands, Rising Star has surpassed blogging sites in terms of monthly visitors.

Although blogging is still the main media activity on Hive, we see that the importance of video content is increasing day by day. In addition, Hive Engine and Tribaldex are among the most used applications. The usage in DEFI channels is mainly from Splinterlands.

The country that uses Hive the most, relative to its population, is, by far, Venezuela. Splinterlands is widespread in western countries while Rising Star is famous in South American countries. Users from all over show interest in blogging applications.

The Hive has a predominantly male population. One woman for every two men uses Hive apps. Compared to crypto in general, Hive can be said to be better at it.

Hive is a platform that appeals to young people of all ages. The highest participation is due to young people aged 18-24. A significant portion of those who use Hive applications also uses other crypto-generating news platforms read.cash and Publish0x. I tried these platforms last year and concluded that concentrating my energy on Hive would be more logical. Being part of a vast community brings apparent advantages.

Thank you for reading.

I'm not shocked to see splinterlands rock such huge numbers I think it's a dapp that's usable for both hive and non Hive users and it has brought traction for Hive over the years. It's surprising to see these huge numbers especially with western countries, I actually hope in the future we can have more major integration from the African continent. Hive is truly a conglomerate of individuals, who has built diversity through and through.

The analysis you show us here is very useful and at the same time surprising because of the way the popularity of Hive is demographically focused through its different front ends and games. I would also like to know which exchange people prefer to use in case they need to convert their Hive to other currencies, you already told us about the defi protocols of the ecosystem.

tribaldex.com, beeswap.dcity.io, and leodex.io are the alternatives. Tribaldex is the most used one.

These are approximate evaluations, so without having some sort of analytics installed directly on these pages and publically visible, numbers are a guestimation.
