A Nightwalk Through Novigrad in Croatia

Hello Wednesday Walkers!

It has been a couple of weeks since I last posted a walk, but that doesn't mean I've stopped walking. I was in fact doing some extra walking and trying to get my steps up and be more fit and active.

The temperatures have dropped a bit which makes it easier for some daytime walks but today I have a nighttime walk that I made in Novigrad in Istria, Croatia. It allowed me to test out the night mode and panorama mode on my phone camera.

As we arrived at Novigrad center, the first views we have are of the harbor and we could see the many fishing boats that look like they are actively in use. I also managed to catch the tourist train as it was going around.

The evening was really illuminated by a very yellow moon that I couldn't capture so well with my camera. There were many stands along the harbor selling many hot and cold treats. The kids wanted candy floss and popcorn. My wife took the freshly made chimney cake with sugar and cinnamon.

We started to leave the harborside area and head towards the centre of the old town and look for a nice restaurant for some evening dinner. There were many choices available and they all looked to a high standard of food and service.

The town had a great atmosphere about it. Very relaxing and friendly. There was also a castle like building that was restored and it wasn't long before we were near the centre as it is a small town.

The streets were clean and nicely decorated and we came across this great display of colourful umbrellas and row of boutique shops.

These lead out onto a main square and church tower. I saw this sign and hurried my wife along as quickly as I could.

I tried to get a panoramic of the square.

Here is another shot of the square from the tower and then one looking back at it as we walked away.

All in all it was a really great evening's stroll and experience. Thanks for joining me. Until the next time.

Such a cool night walk I visited there maybe 25 years ago and loved it so this post brought back nice memories
The colorful umbrellas I don’t remember so maybe there new since I was there but such a cool idea

I was just on holiday there last week and we visited Novigrad. Croatia is a beautiful place and has some great places to visit, I can recommend it for sure! 😎

I have relatives in Croatia and love the country, but I have never been to the seaside! Maybe I should make a detour next time and Novigrad is very close to my "road trip tour" 😀

Wow lovely that you can go sightseeing even at night. I miss traveling, but with the cats indoors, I will need a sitter first before we could travel once more. LOL! Love the photos you took and shared. Lovely to see lots of tourists and yet the place isn't so crowded. I'm guessing you guys had lots of fun around town. An advance happy weekend!

It was a great evening and the family had a good time.

My neighbor stayed home with his dog as he didn't want to leave him alone, when he does leave for work , I can hear the dog crying.

I like most places with pedestrian roads and local shops. I have never thought about going to Croatia but maybe if I meet enough people from there :-D

There are some beautiful towns to walk through in Croatia and it has a totally different feel and architecture than what you would see in Italy. Sibernik for example is recommended. Im not from there, but have been many times! !CTP

Beautiful place! The umbrellas decoration is usual here in Spain. I believe that Croatia has similar climate, so their function is more practical than decorative. 😎

What a fabulous night out with the family!!!! Have to say - my mouth was watering at the treats you guys ate hehehehe but it's nights like these that make me just happy to be alive! in a lovely town - out with a gorgeous night surrounded by family! hehehe love it!

Novigrad is beautiful at night. Everything looks enticing, I have never heard of Novigrad though, but now that I know about it, I have to go look it up. Thank you for sharing your Wednesday walk, I just walked to 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️Novigrad together

What a beautiful city considering it's at night, most cities aren't that clean here, lots of color as well @mypathtofire!!! Beautiful photos as well! And I'll bet you got a nice cardio workout getting your wife away from the shoe sale hahahahahaha!!! Next time tell her you have a surprise for her and blindfold her and lead her past there to the nearest place you can get her a glass of wine or something, hell of a lot cheaper than a new pair of shoes hahahahahahaha!!!!! Excellent post!!!

I like beautiful small towns that have very unique attributes. The scenes are attractive but the one that caught me the most is the street with the colorful umbrellas. Your family must have had so much fun. Well done.
