ThreeTuneTuesday - Electric Samurai

avatar
(Edited)

Hello Hive Music Lovers!,

Welcome to another #threetunetuesday created originally by @ablaze.

This week's ttt is dedicated to the awesome Electric Samurai himself Hotei. You have probably heard his great rift in Kill Bill in the Yakuza part where O-Ren Ishii enters.

I cannot imagine that the scene would be so powerful without the great work of the Electric Samurai. It is an awesome tune and he is a great musician.

It has got to be one of the best parts of the film, even though there is no fighting action, it is a great entrance tune. You can see it here. Although I am not a fan of the movie as a whole, I do love some of its component parts that make up the film, certain scenes and the soundtrack.

The fighting choreography is good, but not up to the excellent work in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon with the Jen vs. Shu Lien Sword Fight

That being said, Tarantino has great taste in music and I move on to my second selection from the Kill Bill film and that song is the iconic song by Santa Esmeralda. It is the type of classic tune that can skim under the radar and bring you lots of joy when you discover it.

Although the song has a disco vibe to it, it has some other nostalgic quality to it.

The final song from Kill Bill this week is the brilliant performance by Andre Rieu and the song by Gheorghe Zamfir - The Lonely Shepherd. This is another iconic tune that Tarantino selected in the film that really gets the nostalgic reflections going on.

I cannot imagine that deep feeling the crowd must have been feeling listening to this great performance in the open air.

What is your favorite tune from the Kill Bill film?

Great that you know the 3 tunes, I didn't know about this film, but it also seems strangely familiar, maybe I have watched it.

Not sure what to think about the selection this week, Andre Rieu IDK but that is probably because he´s Dutch and he has that "everyone needs to like what I do" vibe. But that Electric Samurai is new to me so I learned something new, and well I have been misunderstood all my life so I don´t think the good lord will change that any time soon !LOLZ

QT has so many good tunes in all his films.
Kill Bill is no exception, and as for my favourite, darn there are a few.
I did like Nobody But Me from Human Beinz when it was played!

To be honest, the music in Kill Bill is not something special to me. I like the music from From Dusk Till Down better, but Tarantino was the writer, not the director. This song is great for me 😎

I would have to say that I am a huge fan of the music from Dusk til Dawn and loved the film when it came out. Great choice! Good luck in the draw!

Awesome tunes! I had never heard that version of Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood before (I've not seen Kill Bill, either) and I'm not usually a fan of disco, but this version kicked it. The Lonely Shepherd is a great way to finish the selections up. That does make me want to get back to some live theatre.

Thanks for checking them out. It does make you want to enjoy some outside theatre, I hope there might be something on this spring and summer.

Dang, Zamfir got old didn't he? That is a great duo at the end there though. It's been so long since I have seen the movies that I don't really remember the music. I like the new song that SZA has out though called Kill Bill. It's a pretty solid jam.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. I guess time catches up with us all. I will have to check out that tune by SZA, cheers! I just started watching it and remember seeing it now! Pretty graphic stuff! lol

Yeah, it was a quite intense film. I would expect nothing less from Quentin though!

I may be the only person on earth who has never seen Kill Bill. 😁

😅 It is a very popular film, but too graphic in many places for me as I am not liking the sight of blood.

That's likely why I have avoided it, too. I don't find violence entertaining.

Yes, I cannot watch too much of the modern stuff as it is too graphic.

Tarantino has never attracted me but I can't say that I don't like him because I haven't seen any of his movies. I may be encouraged thanks to this selection of music. 😁

Favorite Tarantino song is tough, but I will have to go with "The Green Leaves of Sumer" by Ennio Morricone, from the film: Inglourious Basterds

Yep, awesome tune and great artist, nice one!!

Tarantino has great taste in music

That's a fact, always like throwing on a movie soundtrack from one of his classics, always a great listen.

What is your favorite tune from the Kill Bill film?

For me it is the lonely shepard and what a magical live version there that you shared, amazing stuff, he has played live here a few times, but I've never managed to make it, some day..
