RE: Ignore the Paper handed FUDsters!

Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView showed BTC/USD losing ground Sunday, following threats of fresh sanctions on Russia over its alleged plans to invade neighboring Ukraine. After a quiet Saturday, crypto began to move downhill after comments from United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson on financial blocks of Russian firms should the situation escalate.

How True is this?

100%. Bitcoin is rather correlated with the indexes and equities markets these days. A move down on the SPY/QQQ is often met with a similar move in Bitcoin. The opposite takes place too: strong market days results in strong movements in Bitcoin. There's sometimes moments where there's not much parity, but that's to be expected since crypto runs 24/7 and much of the index and equity volume drops off during non-market hours.

If you take a look tomorrow around 9AM US time you'll notice the volume entering Bitcoin will increase, as will the volatility of its movements. Also look at what the SPY/QQQ is doing and see if you notice similar candle formations.

There's a saying in more traditional markets: markets react instantly, then think later. This is what results in these harsh movements related to political/general global events. Sometimes there may be little to no actual relation, but that's the nature of emotion in the world of investing. It's really interesting to consider.

Another thing to consider: much of these publications are created more for the daily investor. The day trader which holds large positions and option contracts which run on a daily or weekly basis. These movements highly impact them unlike much of retail investors which are more likely to not care for such movements in the short-term, since they aren't managing plenty of capital where these movements will in fact impact them. They're created to inform the investor which is using leveraged products rather than those who buy and hold their coins with no additional risk/exposure.

Another very helpful explanation. Most times i write, i just put down my thoughts. I appreciate when i get insights like this that I can study. Thank you.

Yes, I've know that from day one. That the market always react instantly.

but that's the nature of emotion in the world of investing

This is a big topic on it own. This explains why a large volume is always on the liquidation end everyday. A high rate invest with alot of emotions.

Politics will always play a role. Most times we see that the crypto market follows exactly the same pattern with the stock market.
