Are you seeking Asymmetric opportunities (heads I win, tails I don’t lose much) ?

Before I write this content, I wanted to mention that I will be catching up engaging with the comments for my last two posts. Because I usually don't write any new content before responding to all the comments.

Thanks @arunava for inspiring me to write this post.

I'm just going to write some Asymmetric risks that I took in my life so far.

  1. When I was 18 years old, I decided to move to London (a big city) from Sri Lanka.

There’s a ton of upside to living in a big city. I was working and living around millions of other people. I have had a better chance of catching a lucky career break in London than living on a small little island on the Indian ocean.

  1. In 2011 January, I decided to quit my retail jobs and started hunting for my first co-operate jobs.

Even if I failed in securing my first co-operate job, I knew I could easily land a minimum wage job

  1. 2014, I quit my co-operate jobs and made my side hustle AirBnb as full-time freelancing.

Millions of Thanks to AirBnb because It allowed me to host more than 500 people around the world at my apartment as a host then It allowed me to meet 1000's of new people all around the world as guest.

  1. 2015, I started to build my own teaching company by experimenting with my startup idea.

You got to be willing to fail. You've got to be willing to crash and burn, with people on the phone, with starting a company ' with whatever. If you're afraid of failing, you won't get very far.

  1. Sold my apartment in London in 2016, Start backpacking around the world.

I was prepared to live as a digital nomad in one of three countries I choose after the end of my travel and worst case I could have just returned to the UK.

Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer

  1. Bought my first few Bitcoins in 2017

  2. I went on more than 100's first dates after breaking up with my ex-girlfriend

  3. Maybe now, I'm trying to build a Brand name to build wealth

Screenshot 2021-11-21 at 22.46.22.png

I remember well when I went all-in with crypto, I told myself that If I win I will win BIG and If lose It will take 2-3 years to bounce back.

I will finish my little Blog/Vlog with

You won't get rich renting out your time, because you can't earn non-linearly.

It's been am incredible journey taking on all that risk, despite the fact that nothing was guranteed and for your first BTC, do you still hold it or you've taken profit? I must say living in London must have been very challenging and all that, but it seems you came out stronger.

I went on more than 100's first dates after breaking up with my ex-girlfriend

I have probably attempted about 5 to 10 dates that have never materialised, hahah I guess the wait continues. I'm glad you're settled and have a family now.

I sold my Bitcoins gradually and place my small bets on altcoins. I was doing well as an investor however there was a turning point in my crypto journey where I become more of an entrepreneur and went all-in with Steem.

They say it's a numbers game. Sometimes you need 100 dates to find someone specail

Well you're right about that, till then, it's the numbers game like you've said.

I win I will win BIG and If lose It will take 2-3 years to bounce back.

This carries a very deep message and if one follows then I think that there is nothing that can stop us because we are ready to face the challenge and at the same time ready for best and worst both. You're truly an inspiration for many, brother.

nothing that can stop us

It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.

I have never heard of the term "asymetric opportunities", but man that resonates with me! In the end we make our own luck. By the way, that's a lot of first dates!

Sometimes It takes as many dates to find someone special :)

Take a chance, if you fail always be in a position to recover and if you win you will win big.
it the risk we take every day we just learn to minimalize the losses

I need to do that too. I appreciate you for what you've done and tried. No wonder you're in crypto and on Hive, you sure have the pedigree for that.

Ohh, you are really brave to play big mate, I adore your life story.

I'm thinking of going full time crypto but still I do not feel safe enough to take such a step (as governments may ban anything about crypto, we may go in bear cycle for a very long time etc) however, it will happen within 5 years inevitably. For now, I just build and hodl for my life :)

Everyone's circumstances are different and I'm sure one day very soon you will be working full time with crypto.

You are an inspiration to many of us. If someone follows you, they can learn a lot from you. I don't think it will hurt you and no one will be able to stop you. Thank you very much.

Then I should be very rich. I travel 30 km (twice) every day to and from my workplace.

Yes. That was my intention. My comment above is supposed to be a joke, but not completely. I indeed travel that distance every workday to and from the village to the city. Despite the current difficult situation, I am trying to keep some sense of humor.

Journey through life is a gradual process and it doesn't matter where we are going but what matters is we are far better from where we use to be.

Hive community is my inspiration :)

I have had a difficult time learning to be more open here, too. Knowing that you are opening up to people around the entire world is a bit overwhelming.

It takes balls to do that, so if i were you I'd be more than proud for it.

The higher the risk the higher the reward.

It only takes once to win!

Really admire your courage and thanks for sharing. I'm writing down a list of times I took risks like this. Will be reflecting upon that and thankfully i sense that I have a few things to write down due to life choices of moving out of the known into the unknown. Thanks also for your support it really means a lot.

You have done many things in 10 years. I think it is not easy to move from a country to England, UK.

I went on more than 100's first dates after breaking up with my ex-girlfriend

I think this is psychological. We want to replace our ex quickly.

I usually don't write any new content before responding to all the comments.

That's nice of you. It means that you pay attention to every opinion about your posts.

A lot of the time it comes down to simply doing something rather than nothing. Sounds like you could write a book. So happy for your success. I too have similarities just didn't buy those bitcoins in 2017. However I did start my blog that year and that has been life changing in it's own way.

Certainly have to stop by your blog more often. If I'm not correct I think we briefly met in Poland for steemfest two. Met so many people that week, it was crazy.

Following and up-voted :)

Yes Dan, we did meet in Steem Festival three and it's one of the best crypto memories of mine.

Can't wait for IRL Hive Festival 7 !

Right! if I knew you were sitting on so much steem I would have massaged your feet just little bit. hahaha. Funny that I was so disconnected to who was who there I had lunch with another guy named Dan. Later I learned it was @blocktrades! The entire time I had no idea. We just talked about travel, how we are both from the US, and had a nice good laugh. Super nice guy like yourself. Very fond memories indeed.

What have you been up to brother?

I've been laying low here in Thailand since the Pandemic. Traveling the world is just too complicated and burdensome these days. And I've got it good on this little island anyway. So no reason to leave it at the moment.

Steemfstival 3 was of course very fond memories indeed!

Thailand is one of the cool places to stay.

I personally had a challenging year and looking forward to post pandemic world where everyone can travel like we used to!

This is really amazing!
For me the most inspirational part is the backpacking. That is something I always wondered if I could do so. I would love to see the world, meeting new people. All on my own.
Did the traveling part help you a lot to improve?

I feel everyone should backpacking at least once in a lifetime. And I'm sure future generations will probably able to do this multiple times.

Did the traveling part help you a lot to improve?

I would write a big blog about it. In simple terms, I learned that there is no such thing as called happy country and happy people exist everywhere. I learned to live simply.
