Urban v Rural

I have always loved cities by night. During the day, they are drab, monochrome and ugly. Any splashes of colour washed out by the intense sunlight or accentuated by the falling rain.

Then the sun goes down and they transform into beautiful, vibrant works of art. An exciting adventure playground with always a hint of fear. The beauty created by humankind.

During the hours of light, the beauty of nature abounds and we can gaze incredulously at its colourful tranquility. A random environment that the universe has created.

But at night, it becomes black and uninviting. Silent bar the calls of nature.

Brought up in the country. At home in the City

(I really should buy a decent camera and learn how to take photographs!)

I've been considering getting a decent camera too. The GoPro takes amazing photos and their slogan is something like say goodbye to blur. But maybe I want blur!! Maybe I wanna focus on one skyscraper and bring it right up to me but make surrounding skyscrapers blurry.

Blurs are easy. Just shoot through the dirty glass on the 25th floor of a hotel or on a plane! You don't need a camera, just paint what you see, the added imagination no doubt creates a better scene and even impressionism is sharper than my photos!

There I go again, overthinking.

I keep thinking that, too.

Cities are pretty amazing, but I'm in a quandary about the effects of the light pollution. Outside the city can vary depending on the moonlight and the time of year. I'm amazed sometimes how bright the moonlight is.

I agree about the light pollution issues, when we go up a mountain with the tent, it's staggering how bright the moonlight and starlight is! Perhaps another reason to treat myself to a new camera!

I like posting on a Saturday afternoon here, after reading one of your posts so long ago, I always think about you sitting at your kitchen table on a Saturday morning with your breakfast, doing your Hive stuff! It gives me a feeling that there is still some normality and continuity in the world.
Have a lovely weekend :-)

LOL yes. Even in my random world, there are things I like 'just so' that keep me on a level footing, especially when there is so much going off that I am struggling to keep control of at the moment. I' ve been a little reminiscent recently. Perhaps because I can't, it makes me remember (possibly with skewed sentimentality), all the places I've been and would love to go again as well as 'stuff' I have still yet to do. And so we're all locked down again here, no travelling out of the province, 9pm to 4am curfew, only basic shops open until 8pm and the exotic bird in the gilded cage hates having the door slammed closed! No vaccine in sight for me and I'm worried about the UK putting Thailand into a red list.
Meanwhile, on Samui, life is pretty normal and I can't get down there to get the house finished which is annoying to say the least!
Anyway. Whinge over ladies, and no doubt I will try to get back to my acerbic best shortly.
When people drop by, it makes a huge difference, so thank you :-)
You have a great weekend too....a quick train pic would really perk me up hahaha ;-)

Sorry to hear about all the crap going on, it really sucks. We're opening up tomorrow, as you may be aware, plus the fact we have rare sizzling hot weather now (30+ yesterday and I have no fan in the house!!!!), I can see the cases shooting up already. Luckily deaths aren't going up by the same magnitude, we've just got to learn to live with it.

Now the aim is to get all the youngsters vaccinated. They're setting up walk in vaccination centers all over the places to attract them, Tate Modern and Primark!!! Can you believe that!!!!

Will this help?😃

@nathen007, sorry to see you have less Hive Power.
Your level lowered and you are now a Red Fish!
