A collaboration between #WednesdayWalk and #Makemesmile

#WednesdayWalk is an initiative started by @tattoodjay, The idea is to get out for a short walk, and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start.

#MakeMeSimile is an initiative started by @elizacheng – a ‘challenge’ for you to post something that make your readers smile.

I was meeting some friends for dinner. We were early. So we decided to have a quick wander around the area to see what else is there. We came upon the Community Chest Fair. The fair was in aid of the Community Chest charity. Part of the proceeds from the sales of the products at the fair will go to the Community Chest funds which are pooled from the community for the purpose of charitable giving.

Although it was already about six in the evening, it was still quite warm and humid – made worse because we had been in the air-conditioned mall. The sudden transition from the air-conditioned mall to the open air was too much for my friends. After a quick tour of the fair, we decided that we will come back in the evening when it is cooler.

There is a stage and there will be live performances. Plus, there were stalls selling alcohol – wines and craft beer, so it looked like a fun place. We decided to go for our dinner first, and to come back later.

Unfortunately, when we came back from our dinner, all the tables were taken. We didn’t fancy watching the show standing. So, after a quick tour of the place again, we left in search of a place where we could sit down comfortably and have a drink.

Here are some pictures from the outing.

A cloudy and very humid day.

The stalls in collaboration with the Community Chest.

The fair was a lot busier after we came back from dinner.

The performances on stage were well under way.

The 'Yardbird' was doing brisk business. There were queues for the drinks, alcoholic and otherwise, and light snacks and finger food.

However, not all people were there for the fair. The promenade is a popular place for a stroll. Look at this view of the lights of the buildings in the business district across the river. Isn’t that beautiful?

Yes, I guess evenings are cooler, and there were performances.

My pleasure.
