Community Mailing Lists

There are tons of great nested communities out on the greater Hive community. Many of them do a curated E-Zine style post periodically. Some daily, some weekly, but you can read these to see what is happening in the community.

There are many ways on hive and in web 2.0 to expand a communities reach. However there is 1 way that many are missing out on Mailing lists. This doesn't have to be seen as a selfish marketing tool either. How many members of a community enjoy these curated posts? Yet how often do some of them forget to check back to read them?

Mailing lists should have a two way communication involved. What better communication channel does every member of Hive have but Hive itself. If these mailing lists gained following outside of Hive, then this communication may lead them to join Hive in the future. Even if every nested community only brought in 1 new Hivian per month, the greater community of Hive would grow quickly.

Of course this doesn’t just have to be for nested communities. Content creators who consistently add to the content on Hive can benefit too. Mailing out what the creator deems as his/her best for the week/month could bring back regulars to his/her content. For individuals it could even motivate them to continue creating. The upvotes and commenting on Hive grants some motivation but a mailing list is self motivating. To increase a mailing list quantity requires quality and consistence.
