Growth happens over time.

avatar

If you are consistent with your efforts.

It won't just happen by itself.

Growth takes effort and consistency over a long period of tine.

It doesn't matter if your an individual or a business. That's how it works.

I don't follow many Youtubers. None of them really but there was one Mr.Beast that my housemate used to love watching and i found him fairly funny. He is one of the top viewed channels on YouTube and has 14M Twitter followers. All form posting a few a few videos of silly challenges. These attracted a few views and he started getting paid. When he got paid, the videos got a bit bigger and more expensive. These attracted more views. Now he is rich and does a lot of videos where he gives back to charity in funny ways. His videos get millions of views every time.

He posted this to his Twitter a few days ago and it caught my attention as it hits on a point that I always make.

Consistency over time.

It doesn't matter what the platform is with Youtube, twitch, Hive. You will grow if you keep turning up.

Obviously it would help if your content is in someway interesting or unique but over time you will gather more views and followers.

Each new follower that you can gain has the possibility to lead to more new followers if they like and share what you post.

Ten new followers opens up a whole new group to your content and if they like it can put it in front of hundreds very fast.

image.png
Ref: New breed marketing.

We are trying to grow our community at the moment and it seems like a huge ask.

How can we gain followers and attract more views and more new users?

The same way that every other successful business does it.

Slowly, over time.
Then faster if we stick with it.
Then easily as the brand spreads and we see that organic growth as our network effect reaches massive level.

This is a community goal but should also be a personal goal for every member here.

When people complain about the rewards that they earn it should be no surprise that the highest rewarded users are the longest serving ones. Not all the old members but the ones who have produced good content and kept doing it week in week out.

It certainly is true that building over time pays off. We all have to work at it. I made a lot of very low performing posts in the early days!

I still make low performing posts. They're my specialty.

same! Maybe we should start a project and mint a token? WritersBlockCoin?

Within the project we post the daily curated crappiest posts on Hive and reward them with WBC!

I pretend that I know what I'm doing. It's a good niche and works out sometimes.

It takes time to build success on hive and most people don't make it. We could say the same about YouTube but their userbase is a lot larger so it's probably a lot lower percentage that are successful but a much bigger amount of users which is why they seem to be a better place to operate.

If people looked at the reality of the situation they would see that everybody here can make a small bit whereas only the top few percent make any money on traditional sites.

Everybody who leaves a comment under this post is going to earn something. I don't see that anywhere else so it's really worth growing a profile on the chain.

Yeah, that's a good point. I mean every building a twitter account takes sustained effort and there isn't any money in it.

Time is our greatest ally in compounding.

When we put forth the effort over time, we are now going to see how much more will build.

People need to understand how Hive truly works.

They need to understand it but most people tend to chase the money. I guess it doesn't help that Hive is quite complex and it's hard for them to learn what Hive actually is.

The hardest part is being consistent enough for a while to make a habit out of it. Trying to be consistent on hive for years, getting better but still far from what I want. I will just keep putting in the effort to become better and followers will eventually grow

The mobile aps and multitude of projects make it more and more interesting and easier to stay engaged!

That’s my view on it at least. Back when basically all we had was Steemit, things where a lot more dull!

I will just keep putting in the effort to become better and followers will eventually grow.

Consistency will definitely help you to grow but outside of that there is no magic solution.

Some people get popular and others never do. Some get autovotes and some never do.

all you can do in this case is to turn up and keep trying every week. You have done very well to date but there is always more room for growth.

Totally agree there! The important thing is to be present and the rest will come with time!

It's the first step to success anywhere.

Turn up and get started.

If you don't take that step then you will never succeed.

Such an encouraging & motivating post. Writting is just not my forte but now with apps i get to reconnect with hive easier.

Writing is not for everybody but there are lots of options these days to get involved.

Some people just like to read and leave a few comments which is ok too. You can still earn some rewards and build a profile for yourself that way.

Then you can take those rewards and get involved with splinterlands or something else if that is what you prefer.

AND appealing to a broad audience?

I was doing okay for a good while after really slogging away, but since DV wars it's not as great. Grateful for supporters though!

Definitely communities grow through hard work - there's some awesome communities like Leo and smaller ones that have really put in the hours to support their members that are growing really well.

Awwww, thanks! Just a bit sad the post rewards seem to have hit an all time low, but that's the case across the board mostly, by the looks... Mostly. Doesn't matter though, still here for the Hive love. Hope you are well xx

Seems like it's "low season" indeed! But as you said, the people are still here as always!.

I'm good! Did my first sporty bike ride today after coming back from covid. It was great!

We have some great members in the community and hopefully we have seen the last of those dv wars.

It was idiots trying to be the biggest idiots on chain and throw their weight around.

It doesn't help anybody and lost us a lot of great users over the years.

Thankfully not all of them and things seem to be a lot better since we moved to hive. We should all be trying to encourage growth and good practices to help everybody have a better experience and to help grow the eco-system even more.

Absolutely. Lead by positive example. There's still some auto downvote trails happening which doesn't look good.

Thanks for being a shining light here.

I totally agree with the part on consistency. I have told myself countless times to not rush things anymore and just get in there to enjoy myself. Doing it for the long haul. I'm not great at financial content, but I do love engagement so my focus is there and little by little, slowly but surely as you said, it's gonna pay off.

I have told myself countless times to not rush things anymore and just get in there to enjoy myself. Doing it for the long haul.

This is exactly what I love to hear.
It is the best way forward and you need to enjoy it or it wont last.

Too many people try for the wrong reasons and then get frustrated and leave.

The ones who do it out of enjoyment will stay longer and even find that they do better as they are not trying to get rewarded for their behavior.

my focus is there and little by little, slowly but surely as you said, it's gonna pay off.

Keep up the good work.

Indeed if you're step up your consistency there are several advantages attached to it

What matters is the consistency.
If we kept on throwing some catchy topics, we may get more engagement. Incentives do matter but for how long we should be incentivizing, that's the question.

Nothing comes out instantly and it takes time to start earning more. I find that engagement and making yourself known as the best way to grow. So I am happy just seeing the growth over time that I have.

Before I say "Impressive!"... Does YT offer these stats or he had seen his path so clearly since he was 12 and started tracking his yearly YT views?

It's still impressive to see where he has gotten to in his life but the stats are form youtube.

They do good analytics.

44m twitter followers is nothing to sniff at for a guy that makes a few youtube vids.

Youtuber or gamer is now the top career choice here for kids. It's where they all want to go.

Good thoughts Niall, youre a boss too.

I'll give you a vote just for the ego boos ton this one but I'm only a little fish in this pond at the moment.

There is a long way to go before i can hit real boss status. That's when your downvote is enough to make people afraid when they see you coming.

That's the dream.

I hope I can match that table with Hive one day!

One interesting thing I was experimenting with this week is engagement. I decided to partake in an engagement challenge. This boils down to simply ramp up my engagement across Hive. What I noticed is that, within a week, I suddenly started to get new followers more frequently. I will try to keep this up (consistency!) and push my following!

My posts are typically not that interesting to many people I think. But with a bigger following perhaps they gain some more tracktion. Either way with just commenting I already gained something. For one just having fun with the community! ✌️

Engagement is proven to work. I've seen it over and over again.

Before you commented on my post i don't remember seeing your name pop up on the site before. Now i will recognize it the next time that you comment.

A few more after that and I'll check out your content, see if it is interesting. I' m sure that it's very interesting but you just need to find your own audience. That does take time and the longer that you are doing it then the more people that will check out your content. If 5% of those people like it and follow you then it becomes a numbers game.

How many people can you get to check out your page and how many will follow you after that.

This boils down to simply ramp up my engagement across Hive. What I noticed is that, within a week, I suddenly started to get new followers more frequently. I will try to keep this up (consistency!) and push my following!

Simple but effective.

I heard that before. For the longest part, I was mostly reading and upvoting articles as a means to learn about the latest crypto developments. I would occasionally write an article here and there, but that never got me much attention. Only since last year or so have I started to write more regularly. But I too, like many others, struggle to write good quality content. Mostly an inspiration thing :)

But you motivate me to make a few good ones soon!

See you around!
