The threads effect.

Looking back after one day.

Well that was exciting.

One day into the launch of leothreads and people got very excited.

Threads were popping off all over the place.

We know that this is the most basic version and there is a long way to go before we see a fully functioning micro blogging alternative but it's a great first step.

It has all the right elements of a traditional web2 site with a twitter feel.

The potential for growth is huge with the right developments.

And growth for threads means growth for $LEO and for $HIVE. Hopefully the first step of many.

The good.

The good news is that the site is up and running with very few issues. People got so excited at the start that the site did stumble at the beginning but the dev team had it sorted in no time.

That shows that they were ready to launch without some of the previous teething issues that have plagued other projects.

We are seeing lots of different threads, posts, pictures, stupid shit that was always frowned upon in the past. Now we might still see some abuse of the system and some downvoting but that will all be on layer 1 where it wont cause the issues form the past with rewards on Leo only shown on Leo.

There are always going to be ways to exploit the system and people willing to do it but I think that the main stakeholders in Leo are better than that. They will all benefit from good behaviors in the long run.

This is all leading to huge activity on Leo and a massive hike in page views which will lead to more ad revenue.

Looking at the pic from above that threads are already the third highest source of page views in the past thirty days. That is after only two days of operations.

Pages
21k /leofinance
21k /publish
5.0k /threads
3.1k /created
2.1k /@leoglossary

Looking even closer we can see that the majority of this traffic is internal with 3.4K pageviews coming from the site itself.

This all leads to more Ad revenue and a lot more buying pressure on $LEO. This is all starting to seem like a real website with revenue and a business plan.

Great to see it building up already.

The bad.

I'll keep this short as the things that are bad will surely be fixed in the next couple of updates.

  • Slightly buggy.
  • Notifications system.
  • Hard to find content.
  • Replies don't open up when you click a thread.
  • Content discovery

These are all issues but the team has said since the start that this is the minimum viable product. Get it out in front of the community and let them tear it apart. I'm sure that everything here is on the update list so i can't wait to see where we go from here.

The ugly.

Sorry Khal... Just the UI in general. But this is not a real problem. The Leo UI itself is perfect for the website so this will get updated as we go along.

I like reddit threads for short form content. I find them easy to browse and popular content rises to the top.

Just as an example of what might come next.

These are just some feedback after my first impressions.

The most important par tis how well that the site fits the microblogging concept.

I can see exactly what the idea is behind it and that it's already having an effect on the leo system which is great to see.

Everything else will come with time as the team keeps updating the UI and usability of the site.

For me it's been a hugely successful launch of the new product and we should be very excited about what comes next. Congrats to the LEO team on getting threads out after a lot of hard work.

There is a laundry list of things to be added, most of which people keep referencing. If the team waited until all was built to release it, we would be waiting until next year.

Had to get something in the wild to get it working and testing. That is why it is in beta.

Fair assessment. It's probably not what anyone wants to hear because it doesn't help ad revenue but once I'd posted something, any further interaction I'd do with it was on peakd. It just worked a lot better.

It's the first look at the system so I don't mind all the bugs and issues as much. However, I do agree that things need to be cleaned up if we want the mobile app to thrive.

I agree with you on the bad and the ugly but I think that will nudge Devs in the right direction. Im hoping one of the first changes is that somehow those that we follow will show up in our main feed or even some kind of thread feed. I like reading the "trending" threads. The new ones come too fast.

On top of this I think that being able to curate without generating hive dust is crucial. If I can't find a thread with earnings to curate I will find a thread I like, go to the authors profile and try and find some of their content with pending payout and slap them a 100% vote.
