Try not to break your stride.

Consistency is the key to growth.

We have all seen the people who are doing well over a long period of time. They find a niche and settle in nicely to it. From there they can thrive and expand beyond that niche using the brand that they have built up.

all of thse things take time and if it takes 1000 hours to perfect a skill then the fastest way to master it is to put in those hours every single day.

If you put in ten hours a day towards mastering that skill it will take 100 days.
If you put in 2 hours a day it will take 500 days.
If you only put in a few minutes sporadically then it could take years to reach the same point as the first two examples.

The biggest issues is when you do reach this point to think of how far ahead of you the person will be that mastered the skill in just 100 days.

They will have had years of work put in at that stage and possibly mastered dozens more skills over those who didn't put in the time. That's just the reality of life and when people complain that they are not succeeding it usually comes back to effort and consistency over time.

It's hard to get back in the game.

Success breeds more success. I find that when I have that consistency and can see the results of it that everything gets easier.

It's been a busy couple of weeks with getting back to work and having a family holiday over the weekend. Lots of events and plans popping up in a short space of time.

It really breaks the momentum and I find it very hard to pick it back up. The weeks before this i had posts rolling out every week and commenting across the chain. It was fun and easy.

Today is the first time that i've been able to sit down with the laptop and it's painful to get the words out onto the screen. To get those thought processes moving again and to focus on the work.

Momentum is hard to achieve but easy to lose. It goes hand in hand with consistency and when things are going well it gets easier and faster to succeed.

It wont happen by itself though so even when you lose momentum the only thing to do it start again and try to build it up again to reach a consistent level and keep going from there.

The fastest way to attaining success is by the slow and steady steps taken, it is a marathon not a sprint !

Absolutely. This is definitely a marathon and we are still in the very early stages.

So many people have already dropped out from trying to do too much too soon where as the smart ones are growing steadily every day.

Agree. Consistency and goals are important. Dreams without goals, are just dreams.

I like that.

As a big fan of goals and targets it's important to have a path to success and a way to measure it.

That is how you win this game.

Haha, my problem is I always pick the wrong communities. Having tons of a crap token still equals crap in terms of dollars! :) I get what you are saying though. Those who have found the right home on Hive have done really well for themselves!

The communities have not turned out as well as i thought that they would bar leo.

They were never developed to a level good enough for regular people to run.

They needed easy onboarding.
Customization.
Ad revenue

as standard without paying for a full dev team to make any changes.

Yes, it is hard to get a fully thriving community without a group of developers to take care of all that other stuff. Creating the community is easy, but adding a token and a front end can be difficult. I think part of the problem is just users too. We are still relatively small given the overall landscape of tech and crypto.

That why i would have like to see these communities develop to a better level that we could run and bring in more users.

A properly run and monetized sports community could be huge and draw in thousands of users.

An irish one could bring in hundreds to start. There are lots of people that would run a better community if all the ground work was there for them.

Yeah, Sports has been a tough one for me. I have so much time invested in it, but it just isn't going the direction I'd like it to. I keep holding out hope that one day it will turn around.

I think @howo's next task on the list is communities. Hopefully, something good will come out of it, as they need some improvements. I believe he was taking some feedback for them.

Momentum is hard to achieve but easy to lose

Perhaps this is the main issue we have for newcomers to understand, nothing is for free.

I know form the time that i started seeing all those big accounts and wondering how they got there.

It's hard to understand how much time, effort, money is required until you do it yourself so they just see these whales with big balances and think that it's easy to earn $30 a post without realizing how long it takes to get that reputation or autovotes.

It would be good to have an interface that payed out based n impressions rather than votes or by popularity. Stake weighted voting has a lot of issues.

I'm not complaining about the system but about the way that some of those whales reached that status, long time ago.
But this is something we cannot fix and the best is to keep building and persisting now.

Sometimes it's hard to stay consistent and I find it easy to engage right now because I am used to commenting so much. However, if I were to stop, I think it might be tough to get back into my usual pattern.

It's hard to get back into any sort of routine when you break it. Especially if it is a tough one in the first place.

You can build up to that level but its a lot harder to climb up there again.

I think you would find the same if you stopped commenting for a week or two.

Definitely man, I lost my momentum and 170 or so day streak recently as I was on holidays and was too hungover or having too much fun to post. I missed two or three days and it was hard to get back on the horse, but back on I got, as I need to post daily to keep getting to know people and to grow.

That's exactly what happens.

Then it's so hard to get going again until you do and then it comes back over a few days.

Ya it's all about forming the habit and then maintaining it. I read somewhere that it takes 66 days to form a habit to the point where it's automatic, sounds about right

It takes time to get it right. And keep trying and find the right community is important. And it makes you consistent and more involved !

Momentum is really important. It builds up with every smaller or bigger success, but when it breaks, it feels like an uphill battle everything you do.
