Latest Drum & Bass Tune Is Coming Along Nicely - Stars Align

The other day, I shared a tune that I'd been working on called "Stars Align" and it's going to form part of my Space Adventure EP which is going to be released for April some time on all the usual outlets hopefully!

Here's what it sounded like two weeks ago (and was largely unaltered from when I first opened the file again after 6 years):

However, 2 weeks of solid time spent in the studio and we find ourselves at the "it's nearly finished" stage, barring some tweaks to the mixdown (overall sound balance) and final mastering (overall sound maximisation)!

It's progressed so much since the last two weeks and I'm really happy with the way it's sounding, really feels like the start of the space adventure!

The changes you might notice are the percussion and drum patterns are slightly different, I wanted to use slightly different snares that had a bit more oomph and added a few more percussions to drive the energy.

There is a much bigger emphasis on the build up to make it feel like you're about to shoot off in to space on your own grand space adventure.

The bassline sounds I've changed for my much preferred "saw" sound that I can't get enough of with any of my tracks. I just think the atmospheric pads and that deep, gritty bassline just work so well together and that combination features throughout this EP!

Other developments you'll probably notice are the sound effects I've added in to help with the transitions between elements and have been chosen from a large archive of sounds I have on my western digital!

Finally, I've tried to rebalance the frequencies across the whole track to make sure there's nothing "piercing" but this has only been done through headphones. I've not gone through the main speakers yet so there'll probably be some rebalancing before sending this off to the studio.

Honestly, I can't wait for the whole EP to be released and share it. It's been a long time in the making and a huge thanks to @gabrielatravels who has made the artwork for each track - beautiful work as always!
