Still One Of My Favourites and It Isn't Drum & Bass

Back in 2019, I went on a solo-ish adventure around Australia and New Zealand and it was the best thing I did. As I start to blow the cobwebs off my website, there is still unfinished business of writing about the rest of the journey I did. I'll have to fish my travel notes out from that time and continue on!

The trip itself sparked a lot of creativity in my mind which manifested itself in a 6 track EP called Travel Diaries. Although I predominantly make drum & bass music with a trance twist, there was something surreal about the first track of the EP called Travelling Man.

I decided to go for half-time on this to see how it would sound like along with the dreamy and trance like elements. To be honest, I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out:

VIP?

A variation in production or VIP could be on the cards for this one with a more traditional drum & bass sequence. I'd envisage replacing the half-time pattern with the 170BPM one although I'm so used to the slower drum beat and chilled vibes, I'm not sure about re-doing it!

However, I can have a little play around in the music project (if I can still find it) and see what gives, it might work, you never know!

Plus, as I hopefully get in to DJ mixes again, having a full dnb version will make it easier for mixes so perhaps...

Sums Up The Travels

As to why this is my favourite, it's probably down to the memories of going away on that trip and I remember the buzz of being on the other side of the world, road trips, driving along the coast, doing plenty of hikes with special scenery and the spiritual side of the Aborigines and Maori tradition.

Huge thanks to Gabriela who put the artwork together on this one, it's quite striking and her skills have come a long way since as you will see with my next release later this year :)
