Unleashing The First Ever Drum & Bass Tune I Made From 2011

We have to wind the clock back 10 years to find my very first drum & bass production and my face was beaming when I uncovered this on the old hard drive.

I thought this one was a goner but this Christmas period has been one gift after another with the old tunes and I'm so pleased I can share them with you.

The production quality of the tune from back then was just too raw to share with you so after a 12.5 mile hike, I decided to plunge right in to the music studio, give this a little make over, something to make it presentable to you folks in the interim because I really want to get this finished off for the 11 year anniversary lol.

As for why it's called Life on Mars, I guess the original bassline sounds I used sounded a little like an alien trying to communicate through the medium of basslines and beats (before modifying them a little bit).

Around the 01:50 mark, you can hear what the original bassline I used back in 2011 sounded like briefly but as I listened back to the drop, it sounded a little flat but I'll see what I can do. Going to have a play around with this one and report back.

Since the original, I've basically reworked the drums entirely, the bassline and polished up the plucky harp sounds.

I'm finding a lot of my older tunes were a lot rawer in sound compared to what I've been making in recent times with the more trance based dnb sounds. I quite like that! When I first started getting in to dnb, I was all over those more raw sounding liquid tunes, I think everything sounds a little "too clean" these days but I would say that being a rank amateur lol.

Hope you enjoy this - it was mostly kept under wraps this last 10 years :)
