THE GREEN WEEKEND || [WEEK 120]

Hello, my fellow Hivers!

It's weekend again and the concept topics of the weekend engagement initiated by @galenkp are something so interesting for me to participate in. Interested in participating as well? Kindly click HERE.

I will love to attend to question one below 👇

The green weekend
Share only two photos that focus on the color green and write at least 300 words in explanation. It can be anything at all, but the main color in your two images has to be green. Tell us about the place and situation, when it was, and what you were doing there. You have to use your images though.

This particular picture above with the corn🌽 🌽 🌽 🌽 as a target object is one of my family farmlands. Right from my childhood stage, I have experienced farming with my family, especially with my grandma who raised me. Farming is one thing my family holds in high esteem to date; the feeling when one can grow 🪴 some healthy food for consumption without buying from the market is incredible. Even now that I am married with my own family living in the city, I still have my mini garden where I cultivated some veggies as seen in this post.

So I took this picture sometime in July this year when I traveled to my hometown in the Eastern part of Nigeria. During the visit, I decided to stroll to our family land specifically in search of ripe corn 🌽 and also to see how the farm is doing so far considering some complaints I received from my mum. For the benefit of those that don't know much about corn 🌽, it is a type of food commonly used by so many families here in Nigeria. After harvest, it can be used for the following :

  • roast it and eat it as a snack
  • cook it instead and eat it with pear or coconut 🥥 as a snack as well
  • sun dry it and use it to make a puree for baby
  • it can also be used for some kind of swallow with soup
  • other local delicacies can be prepared using corn.

It's a good kind of food with amazing health benefits for everyone!

This second image was taken 2 years ago at La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resorts ⛵ here in ibeju lekki Lagos state Nigeria where I reside. It was a weekend with my elder brother who visited and requested a nice place where he can behold more of nature to relax from the hustle and bustle of life. This resort is a nature lover's Paradise that provides opportunities for tourists as well. It's one of the best resorts here in Lagos though very expensive to access. However, for someone who plans to explore nature in fullness, consider this place whenever you are in Lagos State Nigeria. I couldn't help but watch my brother play with the boat, I am just too scared of water but then, the place got other amazing features one can explore and feel happy 😊

This post is in response to @galenkp's #WEEKEND-ENGAGEMENT concept on the topic "the green weekend"

PLEASE NOTE: THE PICTURES ARE MINE TAKEN WITH MY CELL PHONE

Hi, I love to see your family's cornfield, here in Venezuela we also consume a lot of corn, especially for the famous arepa that is made of white or yellow corn flour, it is a very tasty food that can be filled with a lot of things.

About the second picture like you I have a lot of respect for the water and when I go to the beach I only go in until I feel that my feet touch the bottom of there no more, once as a child I got on a boat to go to a key, although the journey was short, I was terrified, I wanted to get to dry land quickly.

There is nothing like growing your own crops for your own consumption. The cost are alwasy greatly reduced, as compared to buy it outside.

Although they may be quite tasking to grow, as managing a farm is so easy. It is somewhat a lifestyle that yields fulfilment. And besides, it could be fun sometimes; that's if you are not under intense heat from the sun.

I love corn too. I love it in any form. But I think I prefer it when it is boiled instead.
I did not even know that you could make it in puree form. But it makes sense, since it would be for babies.

You are abig woman o. You went to this resort. I know it is one of the most expensive in Lagos. But I guess if one is looking to truly explore nature, it is worth it.
