The Stress Of Doing My First Year College Screening

College is a dreamland for the academically inclined person. It's a place where you meet new people and new friends, both the good and bad, it's left for you to choose.

Getting to the school, We; the newly admitted students had to do the medical screening. I left Oleh which is about 49 kilometers from my school at about 6 am and got to Abraka by 9:30 am, then went straight to the health center for the medical screening.

On getting to the health center, the nurses there said we should go to the bank to deposit money in the medical center account for the screening (N5000) $10. So I rushed to the bank to deposit the money.

After depositing the money, I rushed back to the screening venue to get the form but unfortunately, they had finished distributing the form for that day. I was close to tears because I didn't have anywhere else to stay and I don't know anyone in the town. Consequentially, I had to go back home. The next day I left so early to catch the first bus to Abraka and luckily for me, I was able to get it.

I got to the town and I went to the school for the medical screening. Fortunately for me, I got the form this time, unlike the last time, after going through the form I filled it and submitted it to the person collecting the form.

Thereafter, I went to eat because I had not taken my breakfast for that day. After eating, I went back to the screening venue. There, they called us to the lineup for the screening. They then shared a little sample cup to take our urine for laboratory tests. I went to the restroom and I did what was required, and returned it to them. After that, they took our blood samples for a blood test.

The next stage was the height and weight section and the people in charge of that area were so rude. They shouted from the beginning of the process to the end of it.

The next part, X-ray. The process was really quick because they had many people handling that section. Eventually, the result came out and we were issued our medical card.

That was the first step. The next was the faculty and department screening. I went to my faculty to collect the different account numbers for the different dues. I did the same for the department and I went to pay them. Luckily for me, I met my friend from my secondary school there in the bank and he agreed that I could spend the night with him so that I can continue the process the following day.

The next day, I went to my faculty, took the screening forms, filled them, and submitted them. As expected, I was called in for my screening and the screening officer that attended to me was so nice, I felt like marrying her 😂😂😂, don't mind me I'm just kidding. I finished almost immediately, went back home to get my things ready to move into the newly found apartment.

My school screening experience was not that bad, because I was fortunate to know someone on the inside who helped me a lot.
