Facebook Whistleblower Holds Crypto to Support Herself Financially, while handling a health condition.
Facebook whistleblower, Frances Haugen who was the former Facebook product manager, appears before the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Subcommittee. saying she has tens of thousands of documents to show that Facebook knew about all the harm to users happening on the platform and did nothing about it.
She said Facebook it's all about the growth of the company and put the growth of the company, over it users well being, she leaked some documents showing that Facebook the social media giant owned by Mark Zuckerberg, who also owns Instagram and WhatsApp. Is aware of the damaging content's on the platforms (Facebook & Instagram) that could harm people's mental health and that it damaging to democracy.
The documents also showed that Facebook knew that its products were spurring ethnic violence in places such as Ethiopia and that it failed to combat misinformation on its platform relating to the January 6 Washington riots.
Haugen recently moved to Puerto Rico to manage a health condition, and is reported to be working with the co-founder of eBay a nonprofit group owned by Pierre Omidyar. There are speculations that Pierre omidyar is the one supporting the whistleblower financially, but Haugen told New York Times, that she has been practicing the strategy of buying and holding cryptocurrency, which is a smart move, but she didn't specify which crypto she was holding, and that the non profit group supported her traveling and related expenses, according to the reporting.
