What is procrastination

Procrastination is the action of unnecessarily and voluntarily delaying or postponing something despite knowing that there will be negative consequences for doing so

I personally, I have procrastinated more times than I can count, but I noticed that it wasn't helping me at all, instead it was causing me to miss opportunity, appointments, make me show up late and unprepared for mine engagements, miss deadline's, which will later cost me more than i thought to fix, when I find out that I'm out of time, while I'm rushing to try to meet up, i make mistakes, which could have been avoided. Because it spent can't be recovered.

So I decided to do a research to know the reason behind procrastination, because a friend of mine said it has to do with psychology. During my research I found what makes people procrastinate, this what I found that could cause you to procrastinate. Anxiety, low self-esteem, fear of failure, exhaustion, mine was between anxiety and fear of failure.

This is how I started to overcome the argue to procrastinate, I started to paying more attention to things was ignoring or unnecessarily dismiss, things like taking more time to organize and plan my schedule, which will help you to know what to do and when to do it at the right time, so excuses don't come up or you start looking for reasons why you should procrastinate, that would now led to procrastination.

Try your best to eliminate any form of distraction when you it's time to get busy, if you're not self discipline like me when it comes to your phone, you can switch it off, until you're done with your task or job, if you are the type that once your friends are around, you are ready to drop everything you are doing to either gist, play, go out to have fun. If you're that type when you know you have something to do, just pick up your phone and call your friend and tell them that you are busy today, and would love to finish the task on ground, that you guys can meet up later when you're done, or you can tell them you traveled, if you know their feeling would be hurt but I don't recommend lying because it never ends well and I wasn't brought up that way.

set goals and deadlines, which will help keep you in check, gives you perspective and in line to achieve your set out goals, always hold yourself accountable make it your mission to complete your task on time, try love and enjoy what you do, because it will help focus, and when you love what you do, you won't want to leave it and do something else. Also I set a certain type of reward for myself as incentive to complete the task, or job I'm doing.

These few things I just mentioned really helped me a lot to keep procrastination in my rear-view or behind me. Thanks for reading. 😊🖐🏼
