No one who likes animals can deny that having a pet can change our lives in many ways. We think that we will have a furry companion that will keep us company in our antics. But very little do we think about how fast time flies and with it also his time with us.

Nadie que le guste los animales puede negar que tener una mascota puede cambiar nuestra vida de muchas maneras. Pensamos en que tendremos un compañero peludos que nos hará compañía en nuestras travesuras. Pero muy poco nos ponemos a pensar en lo rápido que pasa el tiempo y con eso también su tiempo junto a nosotros.

It is inevitable that they get old, but that does not mean that we will change our affection for them for that reason, quite the contrary, we must be more attentive to them because they require more care.

Es inevitable que envejezcan, pero eso no quiere decir que por eso cambiaremos nuestro cariño hacia ellos, todo lo contrario, hay que ser más atentos a ellos porque requieren de más cuidados.

In my case, with my 12-year-old puppy, he is already entering that stage where he gets sick more easily and his energies are not the same, sometimes he sleeps all day. Although he still doesn't look his age, people are amazed when I tell them his age. And I have realized that this is also a consequence of the life he has had.

En mi caso, con mi perrito de 12 años, ya está entrando en esa etapa donde se enferma más fácil y sus energías no son las mismas, a veces se la pasa durmiendo todo el día. Aunque igualmente no aparenta su edad, las personas se quedan asombradas cuando les digo su edad. Y he caído en cuenta que eso también es consecuencia de la vida que ha tenido.

Mi familia y yo nos hemos encargado de darle una vida digna, llena de amor, cariño y atenciones. No solo se trata de tener una mascota por tener, hay que ser conscientes de que son una responsabilidad más y requieren atención.

The way they age depends a lot on the quality of life we ​​give them. When entering this stage, you have to be more aware of them and love them triple, so that they know that they will always have our company.

La manera en que envejezcan depende mucho de la calidad de vida que les demos. Al entrar en esa etapa hay que estar más pendientes de ellos y quererlos en triple, para que sepan que siempre tendrán nuestra compañía.

As much as we would like to, we cannot prevent them from getting old, but it is in our hands to provide them with the necessary support so that this stage is not so heavy for them. We have to be their greatest support, since they cannot utter a word to communicate their discomfort or what they feel.

Por más que quisiéramos no podemos evitar que se pongan viejitos, pero si está en nuestras manos brindarles el apoyo necesario para que esa etapa no les resulte tan pesada. Tenemos que ser su más grande apoyo, ya que ellos no pueden emitir alguna palabra para comunicarnos su malestar o lo que sienten.

We also cannot decipher what they have unless we are animal specialists, but it is easier for us because we can turn to the nearest specialist and thus make it easier for them to be cared for.

Nosotros igualmente no podemos descifrar que tienen a menos que seamos especialistas en animales, pero se nos facilita porque podemos recurrir al especialista más cercano y así que sea más fácil su atención.

At some point they will have to leave, but with good care we can make them last a little longer by our side.

En algún momento tendrán que partir, pero con buenos cuidados podemos lograr que duren un poco más a nuestro lado.
