It's been a couple of weeks now that I want to participate in the challenge word of the week #pob-wotw (I wanted to say that I found out what the acronym meant by reading some posts from this week), but for several reasons I couldn't. And when I saw in the post of the word power, what would be the word of the next week(this week word: Bizarre), my mind started to think about several subjects.

At first, I thought about the character in the Superman stories, Bizarro, and then I think about bizarre events and situations.

I did not live many directly, but I thought that in my country too many bizarre things have happened in the last years, at various social levels, including situations that should not happen, such as the head of a nation running behind an animal with a medicine box in hand, or even being disparaged by other bizarre chiefs from other countries, not to mention grotesque (and therefore bizarre) acts and manifestations, that some people called art or freedom of expression carried out in various formats perpetrated by diverse groups with diverse ideological backgrounds.

But first and more than writing about it, I wanted to write about more things, and I thought about seeing what the word “bizarro”(in Portuguese) or in English, bizarre really meant. After all, we often use a word without knowing what it was or what is the real meaning of it.

To find out what it meant, I did a research on a modern “pai dos burros”(literal translation: father of donkeys - father of dummies), for those who don't know, “pai dos burros” is how older people called and still call traditional dictionaries, perhaps it is bizarre that few people remember this, but it is what it is, and I would say that the new “pai dos burros” is the search engines, be they Google, DuckDuckGo, etc.

When researching I discovered that in reality bizarre(or bizarro) did not always have a negative meaning and that in several dictionaries, and mainly in Latin, Spanish and Portuguese, it is a word that has several positive meanings, or that at least I believe to be positive, as brave, bold, valiant, etc. In addition to discovering the origin as well.

Obs: I have seen some people say that the word bizarro comes from the surname of Francisco Pizarro and his brothers. But it has nothing to do with them.

Well when I read about the real meaning, I thought of writing several paragraphs about it, saying interesting things, or perhaps for a more critical reader, “filling sausage”(killing time). But when I read the texts of the week, I saw that at least 2 people spoke very well about the origin of the word and its meanings and therefore I will not elaborate on that.

For those interested, the 2 very interesting and well-produced posts I read were:

Big and bizarre eyes written by @morenow

And It would be bizarre if it weren't bizarre by Hranhuk - [POB Word of the Week: Bizarre #006] written by @hranhuk.

I highly recommend reading these two posts.

So, resolved that I didn't want to talk about bizarre acts by bizarre people, and after discovering the real meaning of the word “bizarro”, and seeing that people have already talked about the etymology, what to write about it? Easy! (Or not that easy!)

Break

Well, before writing another 20 paragraphs, I would like to say that there is a post that goes a little along the lines of what I will say, which is also a good post, with a very good reflection on the word and other things, in addition to having good artistic references (mainly his works), which is Have you ever been called "bizarre"?

Non-Latin people, calm down, I'm not just articulating only within a Latin group

Taking advantage of the idea proposed by @clicmaster in his post My bizarre way of seeing things! Comment if you do not agree on something!, by the way a very interesting post, which offers an alternative to the rules proposed by @calumam, I reply to @thomasnblum:

No, I was never directly called bizarre, but knowing what I know today, I would like to be called bizarro!!

Do you want to be a bizarre person?

Okay, generally nobody likes to be a person despised by society, right? Especially when we are young, immature, untrained by life, mentors, etc.

Luck has someone who has a family, a social circle that educates correctly (without aggression, whether physical, mental, etc.), a child and a teenager to ignore the world and be impervious to criticism.

Not everyone is that lucky, and the world is cruel, and people are always using words to define and pin others. I've seen many people being called bizarre, in a pejorative way in my life, damn it, even I must have done that, but as far as I know I never was called bizarro, at least not directly, despite having been called other things, including Paulo, anyway, and only a few of my actions were called bizarre actions, could it be that I was also bizarre by having bizarre actions? I do not know.

And until this week, I would say that to be called bizarre, to be considered a bizarre person, would not be cool. And not because I don't do strange things, so as not to cause people disgust for fear of being isolated. No! What I learned in life is that if you want to get somewhere, it is impossible to please everyone!!! But sometimes some things aren’t cool, right?

But after this week, if I’m called bizarre, I’ll consider it a praise, because it can be a praise(just like @thomasnblum exposed).

And I say more! I want to be a bizarre person !!

I want to be a bold, brave person and everything, even if I don't have a beard and I'm not a ancienteSpanish warrior!!
And even if someone uses the word bizzaro to refer to me with more modern intentions, to depreciate me, okay, to be bizarre is to bear being called bizarre, isn't it?

And what about you? Are you, or do you want to be, a bizarre person?

Big and bizarre eyes escrito por @morenow

E It would be bizarre if it weren't bizarre by Hranhuk [POB Word of the Week: Bizarre # 006 ] escrito por @hranhuk.

Have you ever been called "bizarre"?

My bizarre way of seeing things!
