It was a hot afternoon here in the North Central part of Nigeria,Kwara Ilorin to be precise. I was indoors, too tired to get up and check on my birds because I have been running errands here and there to make deliveries. After I have made all the deliveries, I took a little time to take care of the birds and filled up their drinkers with some quantity of water and then retired indoor to pass siesta and get some rest. I have been indoor for about 4hours,was too tired to get up and check on the bird because the sun was too much around that 4:00pm. While I was thinking of getting up, look around and check on them. I saw one already gasping up, I rushed to unlock the padlock took it out,the bird is already hot,it armpits was producing hell of heat. Didn't wanna lose it at this moment, took it to the tap and bath the birds and later made used of the outstanding means to ease up heat from birds.

GOT ICEBLOCK? OOOH!YEAH.....

Luckily for me I have some sachet of water inside my chest freezer, though already freezing but still had small amount of water in it. Took some out, break it and sprinkled it on the bird and gave the bird some of it to drink to calm the bird nerves.

As you can see it that the bird even looks warm, unmoved, stagnant and trying to regain it strength. That is what I always say, during the time of heat,it's important to always check on the birds, if it takes a while before you check on them you might end up losing some. One has to stick around and check on them time to time so as to give them proper care.

I think the bird temperature is now coming back to normal, drinking water on it own.......🤭

Does it help for them to be in the shade? I don't know if they have shade or not. How hot is it there?
Also, tell us more of "siesta." I have been a little busy and need to catch up on all your stories. I am glad you were able to help your chicken!

Yeah,sure..... If one is able to notice it when it's not too late. It really does work.

Yeah, they have a shade but the weather is extremely hot these days and you know broiler birds that the heat they produce among themselves when they have grown is very high.

Siesta? Siesta is just like a short sleep.... A nap so to say that one takes most especially in the afternoon.

The only thing I can think of is solar powered ventilation, but that's costly and would take forever to pay off...

It's those who are doing this business in large quantity that can get fund to implant solar powered ventilation. My own level of business now is to make means of survival but that wouldn't restraint me from achieving that too.🤭🤭🤭
