"How Much Did You Lose?" .:. WorkerBee PH-Pool Week 120

This is probably one of the questions that I hate the most... lol... It's not because it is asked most of the time by people who aren't in crypto at all and they just want to "rub you in your face"... But, it's more that this question in most cases is complete "not in place" as people don't understand how investing works... And not just that, but the fact that most people have ONLY a short-term vision about things in general, not just crypto...

Today, I bumped into one of the versions of this... It wasn't a question, but it was a statement from a newbie on HIVE, so I can understand that... Let me explain how I understand LOSING MONEY IN CRYPTO...

So, if I buy HIVE (or any other token) when its price is $1 and the price goes down to $.50, but I'm still HODLing the tokens, I DIDN'T LOSE anything... I still own the same amount of HIVE, but my INVESTMENT is worth less in USD... But, I HODL the asset that CAN (and will) change the price... It can go up, or it can go further down...

When I SELL my asset (in our case HIVE), I can LOSE, or I can EARN fiat money (if I bought with it)... But, ONLY if I SELL my HIVE for a lower price than I bought it, I will lose... Btw., this is a very common "loophole" that mainstream media uses to create FUD... When the BTC price went down, the MSM jumped with news of how Microstrategy (and other companies that HODL Bitcoin) lost a lot of millions of USD... That's an obvious deception of viewers...

Not all investments are successful... We are used to seeing documentaries of how people earn a lot investing in Apple, Microsoft, and Tesla stocks, but there are thousands and thousands of other companies that vanished and people lost money... But, even for these big names, the journey was a rollercoaster where the stock price went up and down many times...

What about the bonus tokens?
It's to go back to one of the first game tokens created on the Hive-Engine... No, it's not connected with Splinterlands, but with another popular game on the chain, dCity! I think it was one of the early games on HIVE, maybe right after SL, and gained a lot of popularity... Began as a Discord game, and turned into a regular web browser game... If you are playing the game, you will find a way how to spend your bonus tokens, if not, you can always sell them on the market...

There will be distributed 30000 SIM tokens to the delegators of the pool as a bonus reward today!

As always, in the end, let's give the exact numbers for this week... There will be distributed 116 BEE tokens and 30K SIM tokens as a bonus... The APR (without the bonus) was 6.195%, and when we added the bonus it went up to 7.448%!

I have calculated the ROI approximately with medium prices for all tokens at the moment of creating this post... So, those numbers are valid if you bought WB and sold BEE tokens at the middle HiveEngine price...

Totally agree with that misconception of losing in crypto

1HIVE remains 1 Hive like 1BTC remains 1BTC no matter what price is current and the next minute or day later.

True, have always seen multiple headlines like this and also with "billion dollar wiped out of crypto in 24hrs"

Now after a whole bear market microstrategy was fully recovered and price return to actual price - they had 0 loss after a rollercoaster ride.

Today's media are a joke... I'm glad that we have people from different sides of the world here and we can have news from the source...

I totally agree with you, many people ask me the same question, they have no idea about it and how long it has been working on it and we know. We know that if we do holding, we will definitely earn profit in the near future, that's the biggest part of it.

It is a kind of investment and that's not something that will pay off in a day or week... But, as I said, people don't think for the long term at all...

Yes, that's very true... Every investment has its risks and not every one is successful... But, you can measure that only when you "cash out"... then you win or lose...

It's too bad to hear about what happen to the newbie but I agree that we only lose when we sell/buy. Those are the only times where fiat and crypto are exchanged.

Well, it's a learning curve... If I would put on paper how much I lost when HIVE went from $1 to where it is now, it would be a crazy number... But, that's not a way to calculate the earnings and losses... 😃

My answer to that person will be, "Yeah, I ever lose some money on Ethereum and BSC. But, not today... Thanks to HIVE, WAX, and a lot of people who makes me learn to grow in crypto🙏"

The people that generally seem to miss this point usually end up working 90% of their lives, and have very little reward for their lifetime of effort... this is because the risk/reward investor mentality escapes them.

I never thought in that way, but you are right about it! I have so many friends that are working hard and have very little free time for themselves and their families... I suppose that the saying "Work smarter and not harder" is appropriate for this situation...
