Walking in the Park of Málaga .:. Wednesday Walk Vacation Tour

avatar

As I have made a ton of photos from my New Year vacation road trip, I will try to sort them out in these weekly posts in my favorite "walk community"... Yes, it was a road trip, but all photos are made during the walks in different cities of Spain and Portugal... After the first day walk described in the post last week from Almeria, it's time to move more to the south... Today's stop is Málaga, and this time, I have managed to do photos during the day! :)

01.jpg

After a good sleep in Almeria, we continued our trip toward Cádiz, where we reserved the hotel... But, before getting there, we planned to make two stops on our way... The first one was in Málaga, and I will share a couple of photos from there...

02.jpg

It was a bit after noon when we decided to make a launch break... It was on purpose that we finished in Málaga as it was almost in the middle of our day trip, and we heard that the city is beautiful... I parked in the underground parking in the city center and the adventure walk began...

03.jpg

The parking lot was almost exactly at the beginning of this great Málaga Park, which was full of different plants, dozens of different palm variants, sculptures, and hundreds of parrots!!! Imagine that they were so loud that seagulls kept their mouths shut and they are always the loudest... 😃 Most of the parrots had nested on top of the high palm trees and it was almost impossible to spot them... But, you could definitely hear them... lol...

04.jpg

These couple of photos before (and after) are taken in the middle of the park... There was a "sculpture of Fiestero" in the middle, and in the circle around, you can find the names of Spanish cities... It was constructed in 1922...

12.jpg

The next important sculpture in this park is called Ninfa del Cántaro, or Ninea La Muñeca... It was a gift by Tomás Trigueros y Trigueros between 1877 and 1878, authored by Fundición A. Durenne... You can notice gorgeous tiles at the bottom of the sculpture, and also the pond under it... Tiles were very popular in this part of Spain, inherited by the previous rulers over these lands...

13.jpg

Just a couple of meters down in the park, we can find a small amphitheater... As it was the beginning of the year and festive days, it was a nice kids' theater at exactly those hours...

14.jpg

15.jpg

Another great, simple, but still beautiful pond in the middle of the park... I suppose that it is full of thirsty birds in the Summer...

16.jpg

Now, we are outside the park and you can see in the photo above, probably one of the most important places in the past... The bullring of Malaga, better knowns as Plaza de Toros La Malagueta... I think I have counted 8 entrances to the bullring and at the main entrance was that panel from the first photo of this post... Puerta Grande Manolo Segura...

17.jpg

Roundabouts in Spain are always nicely decorated... Sometimes you can find a couple of palm trees in the middle, and sometimes you can find a fountain, like the one in the photo!

18.jpg

Almost every city in Spain has its "own castle", or at least one of them... This one is literally in the center of the city, which usually isn't the case... This one is called Alcazaba, but unfortunatelly, we didn't have time to visit it from closer...

19.jpg

On our way back toward the parking I took a photo of some beautiful buildings... The one above is a City Hall of Malaga...

20.jpg

This one is Bank of Spain, a bit "newer" architectural style...

21.jpg

Two photos of the University of Malaga, with a tourist carriage in front... That is one of the tourist attractions where you can ride the carriage around the town instead of those boring tourist buses... 😃 More authentic city tour...

22.jpg

23.jpg

We were back in the city center in search of some food... :) In the end, we finished in the Italian pizzeria, which was indeed run by an Italian family! And it was tasty! 🍕

24.jpg

After lunch, we take a look at two important buildings in the city... The cultural center of Málaga, built in Baroque style...

25.jpg

...and huge Catedral de la Encarnación de Málaga, built in a similar style, in the heart of the city...

26.jpg

I have tried to take a photo of the cathedral in one photo, but that was a mission impossible... Maybe a panoramic view would do the job, but in a classic way, there was no chance...

29.jpg

27.jpg

If you want to check some of the most important facts about the cathedral, you can zoom in on the photo above...

28.jpg

30.jpg

The last look at the cathedral and we were back to our car and the journey continued...

Thank you for your valuable time,

~ph~

Thanks! 😍
It is a big city, but the city center doesn't look like that at all... And probably exactly that's why I like it! 😃

It does have a great climate... Not sure if it is better than where I am at the moment, but it's great to be at the seaside during the winter... 😃

Ahh that was a fun tour of Malaga thank you very much!

That was such a beautiful fountain and those castles! 😱 OMG I cannot WAIT to get there to see for myself!

It all looks Soooo delicious!

Speaking of delicious, I had to laugh at the fact that you're touring though Spain to Portugal and stopped to eat Italian! 😂

I wonder if those parrots are as loud as mine...🤔🤣

I don't know how many parrots you have... But, I suppose not more than 10, so you can multiply the sound of your(s) by 100 and you will know how it sounds... 🤣

Our stop in Málaga was complicated as my wife didn't feel well, so we had to do things in a rush... The first opened (and normal) restaurant was that pizzeria... :) Luckily, for the rest of our journey, we had authentic (local) cuisine for meals... :)
