Hunter is back in Silver Ridge Peaks | theHunter: Call of the Wild

avatar

Hello, gamers. Welcome back to my blog.

It has been a long since I played theHunter: Call of the Wild. I have been occupied with other games lately but today I decided to get back into hunting and joined the Silver Ridge Peaks reserve for obvious reasons.

Silver Ridge Peaks hosts a variety of species ranging from small Merriam Turkeys to the big game like Plains Bisons. The population of animals are also very healthy in this reserve. This is one of the reasons it is among the favourites map for 'Call of the Wild' players which is evident from the disproportionate no. of online games hosted on this map.

Anyways, it was a foggy morning. I was close to the outpost near a big lake.

This was the drinking time for Rocky Mountain Elks. I spotted a big male drinking on the other side of the lake. He was too far for me to take an accurate shot and he was not going anywhere so I slowly approached and got much closer.

I took the shot at around 200 meters mark and got a clean shot on the left lung. There was no chance he was gonna survive a lung shot from the 7 mm Magnum rifle. He dropped dead soon and I harvest it. I bagged a nice silver trophy to start the session.

As most of the animals would have been spooked by the sound of gunshots. I had to travel some distance and see what I can find. It didn't take me long before I saw a female black bear eating in peace. I slowly walked and tried to get closer. Once I was in a comfortable shooting range. I took aim and clean lung shot.

This one was a relatively smaller female and only gave me a Bronze trophy. But I get extra cash for killing large predators. So, it was worth it.

Now the weather was clear and the sky was looking nice. This was turning out to be a nice morning. I love walking through the forest in this game. The ambient sound like the rustling of the wind and falling of trees and sounds of wildlife makes it a memorable experience. You won't believe hunting games can be this relaxing.

I must have spooked all the animals nearby so I thought of going to another area. Also, hunting in thick forests is challenging as animals will sense you before you see them and will run away. So, I prefer open grasslands and I fast travelled to one of those areas.

The change of scenery was lucky for me. I spotted a small group of Pronghorns. These are one of the fastest land animals so I had to be extra careful in approaching them. They also have a good sense of smell and sight. Luckily I was in large grass and somehow hidden.

I took aim at one of the males. These are not the toughest animals and even a basic rifle can take those down. I had a powerful 7 mm magnum so it was a rather easy job. I aimed at the lungs and took the shot. The bullet punctured both the lungs and the poor animal dropped right there.

Later I spotted another small group in the distance and managed to get a kill from that group as well. Both of these got me a silver trophy and weighed more than 50 kg each.

This was a large valley with a huge open grassland where hunting is relatively easy as you can spot animals from a long distance.

While I was trying to spot some bigger game, a Merrium Turkey flew past me. I heard their warning calls as well. I knew they don't fly very long distances and are bound to land soon. So I followed their flight path and right after they landed I took the shot.

These are just class 1 animals and I was using bullets covering 4-9 classes. And this made me lose one of the harvest checks. One of the ethical ways to kill animals is by using proper ammo and hitting clean shots on vital organs. If you fail to do so you lose the harvest check and will receive a lower trophy, less XP and cash rewards. I couldn't do much with this as I had no weapon on me that was class 1.

On the east side of these plains, there was a large lake infamous for attracting Bisons. So, I knew where I was going next. Just like I expected there was at least three large group of Plains Bisons. These herds were busy drinking water. I think there is no large water body around this area except this big lake so all of them get attracted here, especially during the afternoon.

It was a hunter's paradise. I knew I can get a few quick kills before the herd runs away from the sound of my shots. There were fewer males in this group closer to me. I chose a big female and took my aim.

While I had the time I took a couple more shots and got down two more Bisons. I had to track them down and follow their blood trails but I harvested all of them at the end. Getting 3 Bison from practically the same herd is not an easy job.

This was a perfect end to the hunting session. I love to hunt Bison, they have such large lungs it is difficult to miss them. So, every shot is a vital shot. I played the game after like two weeks but it was still the same. I loved every part of it.

Thanks for reading...

Until next time...

Oh man I haven't played any hunting games in ages. I used to love it when I was a kid although mostly I would just try to rush and then have to track for the longest time haha.

I was not a big fan of hunting in games but it all changed when I played. Far cry Primal. It had some satisfying hunting mechanisms and you didn't require any patience.

Having said that, theHunter Call of the Wild do require some patience, especially at the start of the game when you have yet to unlock powerful weapons and scope. But it's all fun and exciting. I used to rush as well but the game punishes you a lot for doing that so I learned to be patient now...lol

I loved Far Cry Primal. You're right the hunting there was a lot of fun. I honestly wasn't expecting much going in but it quickly turned out to be my all time favorite Far Cry game. Getting those headshots with the bow was super satisfying haha.

Haha yeah, I don't really remember exactly which hunting game I played since that was about 15 years ago but I am guessing it has changed quite a lot since then. Might have to give one of those games a try again soon.

Nice catch, buddy. At 200 meters, it can't be easy to make a successful shot. Only a master hunter like you can do that.

I'm more amazed at how amazing these hunting games graphics have gotten... The last one I played many years ago was quite dull looking... It was fun... But this.... This is some next level shit 😂

I doubt I'd do much hunting 😂 I'd be too lost looking at the environment!

haha... yes they have come a long way. There is a new hunting game called Way of the Hunter which looks much better than this one. But I am afraid my PC can't handle those graphics. What a time we been living in from crappy graphics to graphics our PC can't even handle.

Thanks for visiting my post, brother. Have a nice weekend!

The game looks pretty good. Stalking and hunting can be very entertaining.
