Long Journey Through Hirschfelden Hunting Reserve | theHunter: Call of the Wild

Hello, gamers. Welcome back to my blog.

I enjoy this hunting game called theHunter: Call of the wild. I even bought some other maps as DLCs and one such map is the Hirscheflden Hunting Reserve. It has lush green forests and grassy meadows with a decent population of deer, boars and even bears. It is supposed to be located somewhere in Europe.

I had played on this map and done a few story missions so far. My next mission looked like a rather simple one. Someone is writing a book on fallow deer and they want me to capture a detailed photo of it with a lake in the background.

Sounds simple, yes? But this type of mission is rather difficult. Even harder than hunting lions in Savanna. To take pictures of deer you have to first find it and then approach it slowly without making too much noise, if you run or even walk in bushes there is a chance the deer can detect you and will get spooked and run away.

Sometimes the wind direction makes it even harder. And all this with a lake in the background.

That should be difficult, I thought. Fortunately, it was a massive lake and they generally have multiple drinking zones.

I reached a spot and thought it looks nice, let me capture it with my camera. I took a picture of that lake and to my surprise, it completed the mission. WTF!? At first, I thought that I accidentally captured a fallow deer in this picture but I looked and there were no deer in this one. That had to be the funniest glitches I have seen in the game. I was afraid this mission will take ages but boom, it was done in an instant.

So, I started the next mission. This one is called "Bhandari - Investigating the Bison". I got to know that Bhandari and his team of scientists are trying to reintroduce Bison to this place but they hit a roadblock as some mysterious disease is spreading among them and some of them are dying.

My mission is to go to the place called Rinderland George and collect the blood sample from a carcass of a Bison.

Rinderland George is far on the west side of the map and I don't have any unlocked outposts around that area. So, I had to walk a good amount of distance to reach there. While I was on my way, I saw a few old structures and after reading the signposts found that they were old bunkers used in WW1 by German forces.

I continued my journey and found an outpost. So, I can fast-travel here without walking for 15 mins lol.

It was still almost 2 kilometres from my desired location. So, I continued walking... along the way, I was hearing many noises from animals including foxes and deer. And the ambient music is nice as well. It almost feels like you are walking in a forest.

I saw a herd of Bisons, they sensed me quickly and tried to flee from the area.

But I was not going to let this opportunity go to waste. I had a good little hunting session and killed three in total. The first one was a silver trophy. Shot it in the right lung.

The first one was down quickly but I had to track down the other two with my dog. One of them had albino fur type which looked way apart from the rest of them. See for yourself. It weigh over half a ton and I bagged another silver trophy.

This final kill got me enough XP to reach the next level and that granted me a perk point. So, I opened the menu to see which one will be best. I went with a rifle perk as I use it almost exclusively to take down every animal. I purchased the breath control and it further reduced the aim wobble. This is a big change and I can now achieve better results.

I continued my journey into this majestic park and spotted a lookout point. This should reveal more secrets around this place. I could see a new outpost on the map not far from here.

I was finally at the Rinderland George area and my next objective was to find a carcass of Bison. It is a big area so, I looked around and saw a big herd of Bisons. I was not patient enough to see one of them die of a disease so I took matters into my hand and downed a couple of them.

Turns out that if I kill them it doesn't work and I either have to wait and follow the herd and see if someone dies or find a dead Bisons not killed by me. That's a bummer! I didn't know that before and I spooked them pretty badly. They fled the area and if you kill a few at the same place then the hunting pressure will drive the animals away from there.

I messed up a little and wanted to quit but then I heard a call from a Red deer. I saw the marks on the ground and followed them. This one was a little female and they are not the biggest deer species found in this part of the world.

Anyways, as it was a low-class animal, I used my less powerful rifle, the ranger .243, had to track it though but it was not that bad.

It was a nice session and I enjoyed the ambient sounds while walking in the forest. It is one of the most beautiful maps in the entire game. The animal's AI is very realistic and they respond to your presence just like they do in the wild. It is one of the best hunting simulation games out there.

Thanks for reading...

Until next time...

This is a pure gem of a game. One of the best hunting simulators out there. He has fine taste in games I must say.

theHunter is a great game! Please, what a great idea from the developers. A few months ago I was hunting bears and quite a few dangerous animals, but I stopped playing it because I don't know, maybe it was a bit repetitive for me, and I'm not saying in the animals, but the ways of hunting were always repetitive, maybe I should have learned a bit more.

In fact, I remember one time I spent about 2 hours trying to find a damn deer to hunt and I never could, I always chased them away, this game brought out the worst in me haha.

What a fantastic graphic this game has! I see beauties everywhere. The colorful environment looks so cool. I wish I'd go visit a similar place in real world where I don't have to hunt those animals, lol.
