Splinterlands Social Media Challenge! Trying new Card - IZA The Fanged

avatar

Hello guys, this is my entry to the "Splinterlands Social Media Challenge!". If you want to participate or just want to read more about the challenge, click here.

I will be testing a new card from the Chaos Legion Series. I browsed through through the market page and found IZA THE FANGED as a good card to test this week. I hardly use ranged cards but I see people using them effectively. So, here I am trying to learn how can I use her in my compositions. It was not an easy job. I lost many battles but I consider them a great source of learning.

Finally, I started to realise the best compositions with my available cards. I will share a few battle using her.

IZA THE FANGED is a quick, ranged monster that deals with 1 ranged attack has good speed (4-speed points) and comes with low health of 3 hp at level 1. She costs 4 mana but is worth it because of her two nice abilities namely sneak and scavenger.

She can be placed strategically to soak up some hits from the opponent and her scavenger ability makes her health much effective especially in high mana battle where players use the most cards.

Battle 1

My Lineup

This is my lineup for the battle

Position
Summoner/Monsters
Abilities
Summoner
Mylor Crowling
Thorns
Position 1
Unicorn Mustang
Void
Position 2
Orc Sergeant
Reach
Position 3
Venari Scout
Opportunity
Position 4
Goblin Thief
Sneak
Position 5
Iza the Fanged
Sneak, Scavenger

This was a standard battle with no modifications to the ruleset. It was a 27-mana cap battle. I could choose my composition with much freedom. I chose the Mylor Crowling as my summoner. It gave all my monster thorns ability. In hindsight, it was a great ability as my opponent used all melee monsters.

I focused on a good tank and used the Unicorn Mustang. Its offensive and defensive abilities are great for my needs. It also comes with a void ability, that reduces the amount of damage from magic attacks.

I used the Orc Sergeant as a secondary tank. It can attack from the second position by utilizing its reach ability.

Next came the Venari Scout and Goblin Thief with their sneaky abilities. I often use these two as they work well with each other and can surprise the opponent's lineup effectively.

At the end I placed Iza the Fanged. It was a natural place for her as she was the only monster with ranged attacks in my lineup. Her quick attacks makes her a great card and she comes with two nice abilities as well.

I will share my battle here, which I have uploaded to YouTube.

lineup

This was also a standard battle with no modifications to the ruleset but a 25-mana cap battle. This was not that different from the last one. I had some mana to play with. I again used the Mylor Crowling as it works well with my strategy here. This time my opponent used a heavy magic attack so, it was not that useful.

I used the Unicorn Mustang as my tank just like the last time, it worked well and absorbed some heavy hits. As it now had the thorns ability (from the summoner) it performed better than my opponent's Unicorn Mustang.

It was a rather quick battle this time. My monsters had much improved speeds as I used 2 ranged monsters this time. They helped in eliminating weaker monsters from the back of the lineup. It was a smooth win after the initial quick attacks from them.

I realised the power of having speed, it is often overlooked part of the stats for me but now I am starting to give more preference to the speed of my monsters as it plays a crucial role in the order of attacks.

Now let's take a look at the actual battle.

I will share my battle here, which I have uploaded to YouTube.

Conclusion

There were a few things to be learned from my battles with using Iza the Fanged.

I tested her with lower mana battles but with my set of weaker cards was not that effective. I could not get the desired results with that. I tried changing my lineups but all in vain. I might need a better summoner for that.. I guess.

When I used her in mid to high range battles it was fun and I saw a stark change in my winnings. Sure, I was losing some but I won few as well. I used her with double and triple ranged attacks and it worked well.

Let me know what were your experiences using her.

Thanks for reading...
