Do you Trust Me?

"Trust no One"

A lot of people make use of that phrase a lot but unfortunately they pay little or no attention to it when dealing with other people. Some few days back, something happened that has made this phrase refuse to leave my head.

A lecturer of ours had given us an assignment with no particular date of submission. It was left to the course representative of that course to pick a date. So there had been a little bit of confusion on when to submit. Well, a day after the assignment was given, rumors started going round the class that the submission of that assignment would be due on that day.

Everyone, including me began to tremble because we had felt so relaxed due to the lack of an initial submission date that we had done close to nothing on the assignment. A few of us immediately picked up our textbooks and started writing down whatever we saw that looked like an answer. While some other people protested. Their point had been that there was no way the announcement of the submission date and the submission would be on the same day and so while I and some of my other course mates were writing, they refused to do anything.

One of the guys spearheading the protest was a guy whose name was Josh. He had sworn that he was never going to submit the assignment on that day, so his disciples had all dropped their pens and stood firmly behind their leader.

But few minutes to when we were to submit, something happened. Josh who had disappeared for a while re-emerged with the answers to the assignment in his hand. He had gently sneaked out to go write his assignment while his disciples foolishly sat down and did nothing. The feeling of betrayal that displayed on their faces almost made me burst out in laughter..

“Trust no one” that voice said in my head as I went to submit my assignment.

And don't depend on anyone else either, keep control of your actions.

This is actually a very relatable post. I saw many of these things happen when I was in the uni. The whole class will agree not to attend a lecture because the timing was not suitable for all, yet some persons will go ahead and attend that lecture.
This just proves how unreliable humans can be. When we keep this in mind, we are less likely to be disappointed.

Funny enough this happened recently at my school. Fortunately for those of us who were not present, the lecturer decided to postpone the class.
