No one knew how the Secretary of Defense had been kidnapped, not even his security detail. All they knew was that he had gotten into the elevator with two of his personal bodyguards and never came out. The President had immediately called for a meeting with all of his high chiefs. The missing secretary was the least of the president’s problems, what he was more interested in was the suitcase handcuffed to the secretary of defense.

The suitcase had nuclear launch codes in them, codes that if activated could bring a country to its kneels. The secretary had been on his way to the Presidential villa with the codes when he was abducted. They had expected to hear words from the people who had kidnapped him, maybe they might demand a ransom in exchange for the secretary and the suitcase but twenty minutes after the secretary had gone missing, there still was nothing.

An hour after the abduction and the President was devastated and exhausted, it was obvious that the men would never call. He had done all he could to locate the abductors but it was as if they had vanished from the face of the earth. He was about resigning to faith when the driver to the secretary walked in with an old looking briefcase.

“What is it?” The President asked, not even sparing the man a glance. He needed to rest and yet he couldn’t.

“The codes sir, I have the codes.” The driver said as he gently placed the suitcase on the table in front of him. The President immediately stood on his feet and watched the man open the suitcase and to his surprise, the nuclear codes were indeed inside the suitcase.

“How did you get the codes? What about the Secretary?” The President asked the driver who obviously was trying to be careful. He knew one careless word from him could see him spending the rest of his life in a black hole somewhere.

“The secretary of defense had personally handed me the codes sir. He said just in case anything should happen to him, that I should take the codes and lay low for some time before bringing it to you. He said no one would ever suspect the driver of the Secretary of Defense to have the codes.”

“So he had given you the codes in this old looking briefcase and had carried an empty briefcase instead?” The President asked, it was dumb but brilliant idea.

“Actually sir, the briefcase the Secretary was holding isn’t entirely empty, it has a tracker on it.” The driver said and watched as the president immediately picked up the phone and made a phone call. He knew who the President was calling snd he knew what those people can do. Within a matter of seconds, the tracker would be located and hopefully the Secretary would be safe.

And it happened exactly as the driver predicted. The men the President had called had traced the tracker and within minutes, the whole placed was filled with the police and the Secretary had been rescued.

Later that day, the President had told the public that they had gotten intel of an unknown terrorist group who had made camp in that area and that luckily, the police had caught and arrested all of them. There was no way he was going to tell the people that the country most powerful weapons had been saved by the Secretary of Defense driver, he still was finding it hard to believe himself.
