Detective Harvey was all smiles as his men placed the criminal into the van. This was his sixth arrest of high profiled criminals in two months, he knew for a fact that his promotion letter was somewhere around the corner waiting to get signed.

“Good work detective” his men cheered him as he walked over to the van and requested that he transports the criminal to the station himself. The officer who was sitting in the van agreed and immediately came out of the vehicle. “The detective was the reason for the arrest, it’s only normal that he wants to see it till the end”. The officer thought to himself as he handed Harvey the keys.

But what that officer and every other officer didn’t know was that, the detective was once in business with that criminal, just like the five other criminals he had arrested in the last two months.

The detective, through a middle man provided the criminals with whatever they needed for their operations, including intels on officers in that area and when the operation has been successful and the money hidden, he would leak the whereabouts of that criminal to some of his boys with the disguise of getting the intel from a reliable source and then his men would go in and arrest the criminal, keeping all of the stolen money to himself. That way, he was getting richer and climbing up the police ranks.

After the arrest has been made, the detective would ask for permission to drive the criminal back to the station, giving him all the time to find out what the criminal knows of his involvement in the whole thing. Every time he did this, it always turns out that none of them knew of his involvement but everything went sideways for the detective when the criminal mentioned his name before he could even say a word.

“Detective Harvey, I guess you’re here to get out of this mess you put me into”. The man said to the detective who said nothing in return. He was thinking if he should pretend like he didn’t know what the man was talking about but the next words that came out of the man’s mouth told him it was too late for that.

“I followed Derrick to your nice little hideout and I have proof of the both of you meeting. If you don’t get me out of here, your friends at the station, the honest ones of course, are gonna received a nice little package from my people by this time tomorrow.” The man finished with a smile.

Derrick was Harvey’s middle man who handled all the business with the criminals, making sure none of them knows of his involvement.

“Okay,I will get you out.” The detective replied as he starts the van. He knew if he didn’t handle this right, then this would be the beginning of the end for him.

This is an interesting scenario you set up in the story, @prayzz. The detective must find a way out of a situation that seems to have no good exit. You leave it to the reader to decide how this sordid business will be resolved.

Great little detective story, @prayzz. The detective was way too smug in his dirty dealings. Too bad he wasn't found out by another detective who could turn him in, instead of a criminal who only wants to be set free! Well done.

A crooked detective. I really enjoyed the story, and the mess the detective got himself into, but the ending left me wanting more closure. Maybe the detective gets into a further jam trying to free this criminal. Very entertaining tale.
