He paid into the wrong account. A personal experience.

A huge mistake happened yesterday morning as it brought fidgeting and confusion to me and I was sweating profusely as I remembered how huge the money was. My plans could have been ruined yesterday due to a customer's impatience which has never happened to me before. An amount of money was sent into the wrong account and it was obvious the mistake wasn't from me, but the customer. Here is how it happened.

I transferred 553 Hive which was approximately $221 to Binance so I could convert to my country's currency and make use of it. This was the biggest amount I have done once apart from the bit by bit I have always transacted with. I am very familiar with the rules on Binance when it comes to going through the P2P method. One of the rules is that you must not release your coin until you have confirmed money has entered into your account, to avoid any form of duping or scamming. I have never made a mistake with it before, even when I had an encounter with someone trying to play smart on me by claiming he already paid. I made him know he would have to be patient for me to confirm, or else I won't release the coin. After a few minutes, he cancelled the trade himself. He could have carted away with my money and there wouldn't be anyone to complain to since the fault was from me.

I got the right buyer for my $221 usdt, this was after converting from Hive. I clicked proceed for the transaction to be done. My registered account detail on Binance is Opay (a mobile-based platform where transfers and other features are done) and I was sure of someone not making any mistake as it never happened. I guess those sellers were always on alert and would make sure they don't make mistakes also. Sometimes when I click on the right buyer, there is a chat section where we can follow up with each other while he or she would tell me to drop my account details again for more clarification.

A few minutes after dropping my phone number in the chat section, I got a call from him that I should confirm that he already sent the money to me. I didn't see any notification that I ought to see but I opened my account and refreshed it the hundredth time because, most times, the network might be the issue where the money would have been sent but there wouldn't be any message that pops up until I refresh. No money entered my account. I went back to Binance to chat with the person.

He insisted he already paid the money and I assumed he must be thinking I was lying to him, but I told him to share a screenshot of the transaction, though it isn't enough reason for me to release the coin until it has been confirmed on my end. One has to be very careful with stuff like this. When he sent the screenshot, I realized he paid into the wrong account which I didn't register on but was more confused when my name popped up. This got me confused more because how will the money be reversed?

I was mad at him because I didn't expect him to make such a huge and silly mistake. According to him, he only saw a letter of the account and concluded it was what was registered. I called a friend to share my experience with him and he then assured me nothing would happen and that even if I report to Binance officials, he would be blamed and that was his loss.

My friend told me to register on the said account the buyer sent to. I asked if it would work and he said I should try it first. I told the buyer (the guy) to complain to his bank too and I could notice his mind wasn't settled. I downloaded the app and registered. Lo and behold, the money was there but cannot transfer until I have connected my BVN (Bank Verification Number) to upgrade the limit I can transfer. Immediately, I did that, and transferred the money to the right account to be sure it wasn't a glitch or audio money 😅

Thank God it worked. The guy couldn't stop thanking me because he said no lady would even think of going through the stress and would leave it all to him since he was the one at fault and it could make him lose such a huge amount. Afterwards, he asked for my contact which he saved and that was how we became friends on WhatsApp as he chatted me up, till late at night, he kept thanking me because he knew what would happen thereafter.

I had to let him know he should be patient in case of next time and verify any account before he proceeds with payment because we cannot be the same way. Another individual might claim he or she didn't see the money whereas it has reflected just like mine. I told him to be more careful and that was it. I got my money and that was when my mind was calm too because it was an experience I never thought could happen to me, especially with such a big amount.

It warrants one to sweat isn't it? Well these things happen, that's why I like to ascertain the level of carefulness or expertise of the person I'm dealing with. Whether I'm selling or buying, it's important the two parties don't lose their head to carelessness. Glad you salvaged the situation.

We have to be extra careful because we don't know them, we only transact online.
Thank you 👍

Yes. That's the problem unless you have a real life friend to trade with that would be better

Good one! Thank goodness you were calm and able to resolve the situation. Mistakes are bound to happen but this would've been costly on his part. It's always good to be careful and triple check when conducting p2p.

You save his bucks, he was rushing, that is why he could not check the details carefully if it match before transferring the money, recovering the money for him make him grateful, when he thought he had loose it, It's going to take long before he forget the favour.

Great that you've sort it out after a few hiccups. Guess there is always something to be learned and one more thing we should pay attention in the future.

Wow this is amazing, you've got a good heart to go through all those rigorous stress just to save him since he's the one at fault.

We just need to be more careful when dealing with all this binance people, one almost scammed me few months ago, if not for my attentiveness to details before releasing the token.

I think we should need to be careful in the time of making any transaction and patience is required otherwise we can also make the same mistake. You are very kind hearted, otherwise that guy might suffer huge loss.
Anyway, that guy made the mistakes but we should learn from it because every time luck won't be on favour.

This is amazing, I appreciate your kind gesture.
I only patronize one trusted customer on Binance for the past 4 years now and he hasn't made any mistake since.

He buys and sends coins in less than 5 minutes, so I don't bother to have a new customer.

I'm excited you were able to help the guy and it even save you from unnecessary drama as well.

Now that we have our contacts, I will make him my trusted customer unless his price isn't satisfactory. Thank you.

How weird was that, but how did the guy get hold of the wrong account for you?
Am glad it all worked out though, you know I have never used Binance p2p in all my years of using Binance!

He used a wrong account name instead of what was registered on my profile. Binance p2p is something more safer and easier here. So, one also needs to be careful.

I think we've all been through those kinds of scares with Binance, but the good thing is that it's safer than many other platforms. Good thing you and the buyer became friends and I hope he learned his lesson.

He could have been in serious trouble if you did not have the mind to go through the stress of creating an account to resolve the issue, I had the same experience once, I gave someone my palmpay account number but instead he sent it to the number but chose opay, very annoying.
