Chickenpox - what to do with it
Hi, about a week or two ago it turned out that my son and I had contact with a chicken pox patient. Nothing new under the sun apart from the fact that I apparently didn't get it as a kid.
So basically as of this morning we both have an incredible rash. I contacted the little one's pediatrician to figure out how to relieve it. She prescribed him a syrup and a cooling gel saying we can both take them.
But being an inquisitive consumer, I decided to inquire what else I could do to make us feel better. The situation with the little one is worse because with him the rash is more aggravated or at least with me it has not developed as much as with him, but there is time ..
What is chicken pox
Chickenpox (varicella) is an acute infectious disease. People of all ages and both sexes are affected with equal frequency. The virus circulates widely in human society, but increased morbidity and epidemic outbreaks prevail during the cold months of the year.

All the discomfort of the itchy rash is also accompanied with a fever of around 38 degrees. The spots or groups of pimples themselves are very warm thereby increasing the body heat.
Incubation period
The contagious period begins 1-2 days before the rash appears and ends when all skin lesions are covered with crusts. The incubation period is 1 to 3 weeks.

What is recommended to do at home to feel better
- drink plenty of fluid to avoid dehydration
- bathe in cool water and pat skin dry with a towel (do not rub)
- dress in loose clothing
- use cooling creams or gels
For children it is recommended
- put gloves on the child's hands at night to prevent scratching
- cut your child's fingernails
- turn the t-shirts or sweatshirts they wear backwards to prevent them from scratching the seams of the clothes

What foods should be avoided during chickenpox
- All types of dairy products - cheese, yogurt and fresh milk, ice cream...
- fried and spicy foods
- salty foods
- acidic foods and drinks (lemons, grapefruit, tangerines and oranges)
- onions, garlic, peppers, peppers
- nuts
- chocolate and foods containing cocoa
What foods are appropriate to take during chickenpox
cucumbers, rice, broths, broccoli, mashed potatoes, clear soups
It all sounds so strange that so many foods should be avoided. It is also recommended not to use Ibuprofen to reduce fever but Aspirin. Apparently we're going to have a rough week until it all goes away ...

very informative one here @projectmamabg
I have a question...
why are there certain foods to avoid during a chicken pox infection? Do those foods exacerbate the symptoms?
They say that this kinda foods the acid ones like sour fruits prevent the healing process when you have an infection. This told me my doctor, also she said to exclude tomatoes and eggplants...
Some of the food are related to the skin condition like the chocolate, you know... The PMS and we all want so much sweets and at the end we stay with pimples . I guess this is the reason
