Did the seasonal flu manage to knock you down?

Congratulations! You are not alone!

If you're one of the unlucky few who have gotten sick with the flu, don't despair! There are many ways to treat the flu and get back on your feet.

The first step is to rest. This sounds so tempting as long as you don't have children to care for. Then even with a 40 degree temperature you'll be boiling pasta and making cakes - they kids want theirs.

When we're sick, our bodies work overtime to fight off infection. That's why it's important to give it a rest, we need to give it enough sleep.

The best way to deal with the flu is actually to get it out. Yes, this means feeling awful for a few days (or more), but it's important to let our bodies handle it on their own. If we can survive without medication - even better.

We need to drink plenty of fluids and take ibuprofen, nurofen or paracetamol to ease the fever and pain. I mainly treat myself with paracetamol.Fluids help get the virus out of our system through sweat and will keep us hydrated.Notice when you raise a fever you always sweat. It is good to drink extra water, herbal tea and juice, honestly anything sweetened would help because in many case the sick @vasko90 refuses food.

The moments we are better, we can move on to the next step - exercise or light exercise. This will keep our body toned even if these movements are minimal.Light walking or stretching improves circulation and will help the body heal faster.

I don't know what you eat when you are sick, but I definitely make chicken soup every time I think one of us is going to be sick. For myself and @vasko90 we put chilli and black pepper in it as an additive - makes the soup a bit more spicy, and we get some natural vitamin c from the red pepper.

Doesn't matter if we are very sick or just starting out. This is the time when we can give ourselves a little break. Yes it won't be the most enjoyable break.. at the seaside with a glass of cocktail, but it will be a time when we can sleep a little more and give our muscles time to rest - if we are doing any harder workouts or physical work.

Beware! The flu will be knocking on your door too!

For now with me it's just a sore throat and runny nose, but does one know ....
