I suddenly noticed that I am able to claim the account creation token and able to redeem for the Hive accounts also and it give me so immense pleasure that even I do not require any extra Hive account right now but I still claim because if in future if I have to introduce my friends and family in Hive then it will act as free and hassle free method. Hive account token help me to claim a Hive account using Peakd.com without any dependency on external site, no requirement to pay hive for account , or provide my phone number or an email account.
You can easily claim Account creation token using Peakd.com, provided that your account "Effective HP" is greater then that threshold HP.

While claiming the account , do not require Hive but it depletes the Resource Credits (RC) and when I claimed my first Hive account, my resource credits were depleted to 4% and I was worried if I my normal activity can take it down to 0% , making my account unusable due to RC issues but currently even after claiming the account , my RC is now at 13% and I am sure I am not going to face any kind of RC issues for my Hive activities but on the same time it will take more then 4 days for RC to replenish and I have to wait for almost 5 days to claim another Hive account. Claiming account creation token is directly dependent upon the RC i.e dependent on Hive power. More Hive power will allow you to claim multiple Hive account in a single day.
Unfortunately , Account creation token are currently non transferrable and I am happy if they can be transferred , so that it can be distributed/donated to the various dapp in Hive that require user onboarding. Free access to account token (through donation) will actually help these dapps to onboard as much user they want and more users in Hive ecosystem will ultimately help Hive ecosystem to gain more value.

That's so good to know. It's free to create van account. Normally it costs $3 although there are other options to choose !
You can use "eccency" too by providing the email address and they will create for free. A little more time consuming.

As you say, currently there is no use for them, just now and then I make a new account if requested.
But I guess one day there will be a market for them.
You can setup Hive Keychain to claim your Account creation tokens for you automatically.

Is there an easy way to find out the effective HP threshold? I know it changes over time but I can't really seem to figure out what the amount is at any given point in time.

Look like it is near to 5500 "Effective HP". Link appear in Peakd automatically , when your effective HP is greater then threshold HP. otherwise link will not show up.

Since these cannot be transferred, I guess you need to create account, transfer the keys and afterwards they can "Change the master password and keys of the account"
