Thanks to a gutsy go-ahead three-pointer by Japan #27 Saki Hayashi with 16 seconds left in the game, Japan defeated Belgium to reach the Olympic women's basketball semifinals for the first time.

"I believe it was a survival game. Finally, the top players gave their best, but we were able to battle together in the end " Japan #0 Moeko Nagaoka, who scored four points in 11 minutes off the bench for Japan, remarked.
