An Unexpected Visitor Lurking Between the Herbs || Living Dangerously🍃 #APART - A Picture and A Reggae Tune

Yesterday, mid-day I decided to open the door to our front porch where we keep most of our herbs and some vegetables. This is a normal 'routine' for me just to check on the progress, or maybe if any pots have fallen over or whatever else needs attention. Little did I know that this time I would have a mini heart-attack. Lurking in the green onions was this brown vegetable that wasn't really a vegetable. So me in full panic mode started assessing the situation. Sent some messages to friends asking what kind of thing this is and what I should do.

Of course it was no vegetable, as it's clearly a creature part of the reptilian family, better known as snake. As I expected it was just a common non-venomous snake, one of my friends confirmed this. So armed with a mini shovel, ready to strike if anything goes wrong, I started poking the intruder so it would leave the premises and return to the outdoors. Because the last thing we want is to have it slither under the door or through the window inside. He was very calm and only moved when poked, becoming completely still again after a few seconds. But in the end he returned to where he came from.

@tanjakolader was following the whole thing and was even a bit scared for a few seconds to go into the yard, as this was the first time we encountered one. The only reptilians we have seen so far in our surroundings are the lizards living around the house. Sure, we know there are snakes too, but having seen one now, made it real. I'm certain Tanja will have already forgotten about it the next day.

This just goes to show that we should always be aware of our surroundings, as even the smallest amount of danger might be hiding in the grass. Tanja even joked that she needs to be more alert now each morning when she waters the plants while still half asleep.

With that being said, let's turn to Living Dangerously by Barrington Levy. It's totally out of context, but still appropriate to how we're "living dangerously" here in our pseudo jungle area in Suriname. xD

What do you have to watch out for where you live?

Humor helps to deal with almost any situation. xD
Just now I met a spider about 7 cm wide in front of the bathroom door.

Haha so true. As soon as I heard it, I started laughing. I’m sure that dealing with the spider was like nothing. The spider is living dangerously…tune! 😆😂

Oh it's so cute too! 💝
I would have let it stay and kept it as a houseguest!

Though I would have given it a list of do's and don'ts though....🤣

I don't allow many work-colleagues as houseguests. 😂
As long as he stays out of my way, I'll stay out of his.

Haaa yeah fair call- especially if they are really slack at their jobs! 🤣

Maybe yes, treat it like the neighbours that you don't like and avoid each other...

Ah, yes. We have those as well. Luckily they stay away from the porch.
