The Mottled Tortoise Beetle (Deloyala guttata)

This afternoon when I was in the backyard of my mother’s house in Bireuen Town, of Aceh Province, I noticed a small golden beetle on a leaf. It’s the first time I find this kind of beetle. So, I shot it with my Iphone. I could’nt come closer to it as it will fly away if I did. Then, I make some zoom to have the picture. That’s why the quality of pictures are not the best. It would be perfect one if we take the pictures with Macro lens.

After taking the pictures, I was trying to find the name of the beetle. I used Insect Identifier App to look for information on the beetle. I found that its name is Mottled Tortoise Beetle or Deloyala guttata.

It’s a member of the leaf beetle family. According to wikipedia, this beetle could be found in The Caribbean, Central America, North America, and South America. But today, I also find it here in Aceh, Indonesia, in South East Asia.
